Gatos De Madrid
Gatos de Madrid were a rugby union franchise from Community of Madrid (Spain), which took part representing this community at Liga Superibérica. The team was established in 2009, and was born incorporating, at the beginning, the four top-grade Madrid clubs: Club Alcobendas Rugby which took part at the División de Honor and the División de Honor B participants: CRC Madrid, Complutense Cisneros and C.R Liceo Francés, although its intention would have been to involve all the Madrid clubs in the project, in a future. The team's home stadia, are the different stadiums of the constituent clubs of the franchise: Estadio de Las Terrazas in Alcobendas, Stade Ramón Urtubi and Campo Central de Ciudad Universitaria in Madrid; which are all located in the Community of Madrid. Canterbury of New Zealand supplied the kits for the franchise, likewise for the other five participants. División De Honor De Rugby
The División de Honor de Rugby is Spain's top level professional men's rugby union competition. The División de Honor de Rugby Championship is organised by the Federación Española de Rugby (Spanish Rugby Federation) and currently consists of 12 teams. The last-placed team in the competition is relegated at the end of the season to the División de Honor B, Spain`s second level of men's rugby union. The team finishing 11th enters a relegation/promotion playoff with the runner-up from the Division de Honor B playoffs. Format The División de Honor season takes place between September and March, with every team playing each other home and away for a total of 22 matches. División de Honor B is the second level of Spanish league competition for rugby union clubs. The league began in 1998 and consists of three groups (North, East and South) of 8 or 9 teams each. The two top teams of each group and two best 3rd-placed teams qualify for promotion playoff. Competition Format The season takes place between October and April.
