Gateway Of India Dialogue
The Gateway of India Dialogue is a geo-economic conference held in Mumbai, India's financial and commercial capital. It is co-hosted by Ministry of External Affairs, India and the Gateway House: Indian Council on Global Relations. The conference name as well as its logo comes from Gateway of India, the famous monument of Mumbai. It seeks to focus on bringing together geopolitics and business leaders under one roof. The inaugural edition was held on 13-14 June, 2016 and had participants from 20 countries. The objective is to make it a signature international conference, on the lines of Davos Forum. Gateway Of India
The Gateway of India is an arch-monument built in the early 20th century in the city of Mumbai (Bombay), India. It was erected to commemorate the landing of King-Emperor George V, the first British monarch to visit India, in December 1911 at Strand Road near Wellington Fountain. The foundation stone was laid in March 1913 for a monument built in the Indo-Islamic style, inspiring by elements of 16th-century Gujarati architecture. The final design of the monument by architect George Wittet was sanctioned only in 1914, and construction was completed in 1924. The structure is a memorial arch made of basalt, which is high, with an architectural resemblance to a triumphial arch as well as Gujarati architecture of the time. After its construction the Gateway was used as a symbolic ceremonial entrance to India for important colonial personnel. The World Economic Forum (WEF) is an international non-governmental and lobbying organisation based in Cologny, canton of Geneva, Switzerland. It was founded on 24 January 1971 by German engineer and economist Klaus Schwab. The Raisina Dialogue is a multilateral conference held annually in New Delhi, India. Since its inception in 2016, the conference has emerged as India's flagship conference on geopolitics and geo-economics. The conference is hosted by the Observer Research Foundation, an independent think tank, in collaboration with the Ministry of External Affairs (India), Ministry of External Affairs of India. The conference is structured as a multi-stakeholder, cross-sectoral discussion, involving a variety of global policymakers including heads of states, cabinet ministers and local government officials.
