Gas (sometimes stylized in all caps), formerly known as Melt as well as Crush, is an American anonymous social media app. Launched in August 2022, the app is oriented towards high schoolers. The app was developed by Nikita Bier, Isaiah Turner, and former Facebook engineer Dave Schatz. Gas was largely based upon the prior tbh app developed by co-founder Nikita Bier, along with Erik Hazzard, Kyle Zaragoza, and Nicolas Ducdodon in September 2017. tbh was acquired by Facebook inc. Isaiah Turner (born August 7, 1998) is an American Internet entrepreneur and software engineer. He is known as the co-founder of the mobile apps Monkey (app), Monkey, Poparazzi (app), Poparazzi, and Gas (app), Gas. In 2017, Turner was included in Crain Communications, Crain's New York Business Magazine '20 Under 20' list as a breakout tech entrepreneur. Yik Yak is a pseudonymous social media smartphone application that initially launched in 2013 and relaunched in 2021. The app, which is available for iOS and Android, allows people to create and view discussion threads within a radius (termed "Yaks" by the application). It is similar to other anonymous sharing apps such as Nearby, but differs from others such as Whisper in that it is intended for sharing primarily with those in proximity to the user. Despite strong levels of growth in 2013 and 2014, following several bouts of heavy criticism in the media over the dissemination of racism, antisemitism, sexism and the facilitation of cyber-bullying, the service saw stagnation in the growth of its user base.
