Gary Taylor (born 1953) is an American academic, George Matthew Edgar Professor of English at Florida State University, author of numerous books and articles, and joint editor of ''The Oxford Shakespeare'' and '' The Oxford Middleton''. Life The first member of his family to graduate from high school, Taylor won scholarships that led to bachelor's degrees in English and Classics from the University of Kansas (1975) and to a doctorate in English from the University of Cambridge (1988). Gary Eugene Taylor (born September 17, 1953) is an American politician who was a member of the United States House of Representatives from 1989 to 2011 and previously a member of the Mississippi Senate from 1983 to 1989. He was defeated for re-election in 2010 by State Representative Steven Palazzo. In 2014, he changed his long-time membership from the Democratic Party, becoming a Republican. The same year, he ran for election against Palazzo to return to the House of Representatives. Securing only 43 percent of the vote, Taylor lost in the primary. Following his congressional career, Taylor served on the Hancock County Port and Harbor Commission until 2014. Gary Dale Taylor (born March 4, 1947) is an American journalist and author best known for reporting for newspapers and magazines from Houston, Texas, since 1971 and for the attempt on his life in 1980 by controversial Texas attorney Catherine Mehaffey Shelton.
