Gary Strodder
Gary Strodder (born 1 April 1965) is an English former professional footballer who played as a centre half. Career Born in Cleckheaton, West Yorkshire, Strodder came through the youth system of Yorkshire Amateur A.F.C., Yorkshire Amateur. He joined Lincoln City F.C., Lincoln City in 1982, spending five years at the club and being voted the club's player of the year in 1986, before signing for West Ham United F.C., West Ham United. After three years at West Ham, he moved on to West Bromwich Albion F.C., West Bromwich Albion, who he helped to promotion via the playoff final at Wembley Stadium (1923), Wembley Stadium in a team managed by Argentina, Argentinian and Tottenham Hotspur F.C., Tottenham Hotspur legend Ossie Ardiles. Cleckheaton
Cleckheaton is a town in the Metropolitan borough of Kirklees, in West Yorkshire, England. Historically part of the West Riding of Yorkshire, it is situated south of Bradford, east of Brighouse, west of Batley and south-west of Leeds. It is at the centre of the Spen Valley and was the major town in the former borough of Spenborough. Cleckheaton has a history as a mill town and forms part of the Heavy Woollen District. History Early history The Spen Valley was once heavily wooded. Evidence of human habitation in Mesolithic and Neolithic times has been found in the area. Ossie Ardiles
Osvaldo César Ardiles (born 3 August 1952), often referred to in Britain as Ossie Ardiles, is an Argentine football manager, pundit and former midfielder who won the 1978 FIFA World Cup as part of the Argentina national team. He now runs his own football school in the UK called the Ossie Ardiles Soccer School. A competitive and skilled midfielder, Ardiles became a cult hero in England, along with Glenn Hoddle and compatriot Ricardo Villa, as a player for Tottenham Hotspur. He left England for a period on loan as a result of the outbreak of the Falklands War in 1982, thus missing most of the 1982–83 English season. After retirement, Ardiles began his management career in England, coaching Swindon Town, Newcastle United and West Bromwich Albion, before returning to Tottenham to become the first Premier League manager from Argentina. Champions Nottingham Forest and runners-up Middlesbrough won promotion back to the Premiership at the first time of asking.
