China Grove is a city in Rowan County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 4,434 at the 2020 census. The city is located just north of Landis and south of Salisbury. It was one of the first towns in the United States to have Rural Free Mail Delivery. The town was named for a grove of chinaberry trees planted near the depot. NWA World Junior Heavyweight Championship
The NWA World Junior Heavyweight Championship is a professional wrestling world championship in the National Wrestling Alliance. Created in 1945, the title is competed for by junior heavyweight wrestlers. History The first NWA World Junior Heavyweight Champion was Ken Fenelon, who was awarded the title on May 15, 1945 by promoter Paul "Pinkie" George, the co-founder and inaugural president of the National Wrestling Alliance. For the first few years of its existence, the title was contested largely in Iowa, where George's promotion was based. Between 1948 and 1952, the title was unified with other junior heavyweight titles. The NWA Central States Television Championship was the secondary singles championship for the Heart of America Sports Attractions / Central States Wrestling promotion from 1977 until the promotion ceased to exist in 1988.
