Gary Roberts (footballer, Born 1960)
Gary Paul Michael Roberts (born 5 April 1960) is a Welsh retired professional footballer who played as a forward and winger. As a player, he is best remembered for his six years in the Football League with Brentford, for whom he made over 220 appearances and is a member of the club's Hall of Fame. After retiring as a player, Roberts turned to management and spent 13 years as manager of Cambridge City. Club career Brentford Roberts was born in Rhyl, Wales. He began his career at Isthmian League First Division club Wembley and secured a £6,000 move to the Football League with Third Division club Brentford in October 1980. He made 19 appearances and scored three goals in the 1980–81 season. Following the departure of David Crown, Roberts was a regular during the following season, playing as a left winger, despite being right-footed. He also served as the club's PFA representative. Gareth Michael Roberts (born 18 March 1984) is an English professional football coach and former player, who is a first-team coach at side Chesterfield. Roberts has played in both the English football league system (playing in the Football League and Conference) as well as playing in the Welsh Premier League, and has played in all three divisions of the Football League. Roberts was capped four times for England C when playing at semi-professional level. Club career Early career Born in Liverpool, Roberts begin his career with the Liverpool Academy but was dropped in 2001. Gary Steven Roberts (born 2 February 1987) is an English footballer who plays for Flint Mountain as a deep-lying playmaker, he has been praised for his vision and ball distribution skills. However off the field he has struggled to control drink and gambling problems. He started his career with Crewe Alexandra in 2003, and made 133 league and cup appearances over the next five years. In 2008, he had a loan spell at Yeovil Town, before he joined the club permanently the following year. He signed with Rotherham United in November 2009, having impressed on trial, before he was released in summer 2010. Crewe, Yeovil and Rotherham all cited disciplinary problems as their reason for letting him go. He joined Port Vale in July 2010, having been handed a 'last chance' by manager Micky Adams. Gary Lee Roberts (born November 30, 1946) is a former American football offensive guard. Roberts was born in Parkersburg, West Virginia, in 1946 and attended Theodore Roosevelt High School in Kent, Ohio. He played college football at Purdue and was selected by the New York Jets in the 11th round (268th overall pick) of the 1969 NFL Draft. Roberts (born May 23, 1966) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player who played 21 seasons in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the Calgary Flames, Carolina Hurricanes, Toronto Maple Leafs, Florida Panthers, Pittsburgh Penguins, and Tampa Bay Lightning. Renowned for his physical fitness during his career, Roberts has become a high performance trainer for players at all levels of the sport. Roberts was a member of Memorial Cup and Minto Cup winning teams as Canadian junior hockey and box lacrosse champions, respectively.
