Gary Moore
Robert William Gary Moore (4 April 19526 February 2011) was a Northern Irish musician. Over the course of his career he played in various groups and performed a range of music including blues, blues rock, hard rock, heavy metal, and jazz fusion. Influenced by Peter Green and Eric Clapton, Moore began his career in the late 1960s when he joined Skid Row, with whom he released two albums. After Moore left the group he joined Thin Lizzy, featuring his former Skid Row bandmate and frequent collaborator Phil Lynott. Moore began his solo career in the 1970s and achieved major success with 1978's "Parisienne Walkways", which is considered his signature song. During the 1980s, Moore transitioned into playing hard rock and heavy metal with varying degrees of international success. In 1990, he returned to his roots with '' Still Got the Blues'', which became the most successful album of his career. Wild Frontier
''Wild Frontier'' is the sixth solo studio album by Northern Irish guitarist Gary Moore, released on 2 March 1987. His first studio effort after a trip back to his native Belfast, Northern Ireland, in 1985, the album contains several songs about Ireland and the music itself is steeped in Celtic roots. The album is dedicated to the memory of Moore's close friend and former Thin Lizzy bandmate Phil Lynott, who died on 4 January 1986, with the words "For Philip" on the rear cover. ''Wild Frontier'' contains the hit single " Over the Hills and Far Away", which reached No. 20 in the UK, as well as a cover of the Easybeats' song "Friday on My Mind". The Max Middleton-penned "The Loner" was originally recorded by Cozy Powell for his ''Over the Top'' album in 1979 (on which Moore performed, albeit not on Powell's recording of "The Loner"). The International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) is the organisation that represents the interests of the recording industry worldwide. It is a non-profit members' organisation registered in Switzerland and founded in Italy in 1933 by Francesco Braga. ''Run for Cover'' is the fifth solo studio album by Northern Irish guitarist Gary Moore, released on 2 September 1985. It is often considered his breakthrough album. The album includes the top 5 single "Out in the Fields" and a re-recording of the song "Empty Rooms", originally from Moore's previous album ''Victims of the Future'', which became one of Moore's biggest solo successes, reaching No. 23 on the UK charts. The album features many of Moore's musical friends, including Deep Purple bassist/vocalist Glenn Hughes, Paul Thompson of Roxy Music and Phil Lynott from Thin Lizzy. ''Victims of the Future'' is the fourth solo studio album by Northern Irish guitarist Gary Moore, released in February 1984. It was the first album to feature former UFO guitarist/ keyboardist Neil Carter and bassist Bob Daisley. It was also the last to feature bassist Neil Murray, who rejoined Whitesnake, and drummer Ian Paice, who rejoined the reformed Deep Purple in 1984. Jet Records was a British record label started by Don Arden in 1974, featuring musicians such as Lynsey de Paul, Electric Light Orchestra (ELO), Roy Wood, Gary Moore, Ozzy Osbourne, Alan Price, Adrian Gurvitz, Riot and Magnum. History The first release on the Jet Records label was the single "No, Honestly" which was a UK top 10 for its singer and writer Lynsey de Paul in November 1974. ''Dirty Fingers'' is the third solo studio album by Northern Irish guitarist Gary Moore. It was originally recorded in 1980, but was ultimately shelved in favour of the more "radio-oriented" ''G-Force'' album. Three of the tracks ("Nuclear Attack", "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood" and "Run to Your Mama") were later released as an EP in 1981. The album was eventually released in Japan in 1983 by Jet Records, before an international release the following year. It was also released in the UK in June 1984. It originally founded as a British independent record label in 1972 by entrepreneurs Richard Branson, Simon Draper, Nik Powell, and musician Tom Newman. ''Corridors of Power'' is the second solo studio album by Northern Irish guitarist Gary Moore, released in October 1982. Background The album contains a cover of the Free song "Wishing Well". The track "End of the World" features Jack Bruce of Cream sharing lead vocals with Moore. Moore would later join with Bruce again on the Bruce-Baker-Moore project in 1993. The album also features then former Deep Purple drummer Ian Paice on most tracks and former Uriah Heep singer John Sloman on backing vocals. The first 25,000 vinyl copies of ''Corridors of Power'' came with a bonus EP featuring three live tracks recorded at the Marquee, London on 25 August 1982. MCA Records was an American record label owned by MCA Inc., which later became part of Universal Music Group. Pre-history MCA Inc., a powerful talent agency and a television production company, entered the recorded music business in 1962 with the purchase of the New York-based US Decca Records (established in 1934), including Coral Records and Brunswick Records. MCA was forced to exit the talent agency business in order to complete the merger.
