Gary Lawson (bowls)
Gary Raymond Lawson (born 19 October 1965) is a New Zealand international lawn bowler and a record 14 times New Zealand champion. Bowls career World Championships In 1996 he won the lawn bowls fours bronze medal at the 1996 World Outdoor Bowls Championship in Adelaide. He won a silver medal in the triples eight years later at the 2004 World Outdoor Bowls Championship. In 2008 he struck double gold winning both the pairs and fours at the 2008 World Outdoor Bowls Championship in Christchurch. In 2020 he was selected for the 2020 World Outdoor Bowls Championship in Australia. Commonwealth Games Lawson has also appeared twice for New Zealand at the Commonwealth Games. Shannon McIlroy (born 5 January 1987) is a New Zealand international lawn bowler. Bowls career World Outdoor Championships McIlroy won a bronze medal in the Men's singles at the 2012 World Outdoor Bowls Championship in Adelaide. In 2016, he won a bronze medal with Mike Kernaghan at the World Bowls Championship in the Men's Pairs competition in Christchurch before winning the gold medal in the singles. Rowan Brassey
Rowan James Brassey (born 18 January 1956) is a former New Zealand international lawn and indoor bowls player. Bowls career An earth-moving contractor by trade, Brassey's first national success was the 1980 New Zealand Open Pairs. He went on to win eight New Zealand National Bowls Championships titles in the pairs (1982) and the fours (1981, 1982, 1990, 1995, 2002, 2003 & 2012/13) when bowling for the Okahu Bay, Avondale and Cabramatta Bowls Clubs respectively. 2020 World Outdoor Bowls Championship
The 2020 World Outdoor Bowls Championship was to be the 14th edition of the World Championships to be held at the Broadbeach Bowls Club, Musgrave Hill Bowls Club and Club Helensvale on the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia. There were to be eight events that determined the 2021 world champions, the men's singles, doubles, triples and fours and the women's singles, doubles, triples and fours and in addition there are two overall team winners who receive the Leonard and Taylor trophies respectively. It was originally scheduled from 23 May to 7 June 2020 but the event was officially cancelled on 9 March 2021. World Bowls Championship
The World Bowls Championship is the premier world bowls competition between national bowls organisations. The premier indoor event is the World Indoor Bowls Championships listed separately and is organised by the World Bowls Tour. World Outdoor Championships First held in Australia in 1966, the World Outdoor Bowls Championships for men and women are held every four years. From 2008 the men's and women's events were held together. Qualifying national bowls organisations (usually countries) are represented by a team of five players, who play once as a single and a four, then again as a pair and a triple.
