Gary Holton (linguist)
Gary Holton is an American linguist who works on Athabaskan languages of Alaska and Papuan languages of eastern Indonesia. He is also interested in the standards of archiving and sharing linguistic data. As of 2019, he is a professor in the Department of Linguistics at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. He has bachelor's and master's degrees in mathematics. Papuan Languages
The Papuan languages are the non- Austronesian and non-Australian languages spoken on the western Pacific island of New Guinea in Indonesia and Papua New Guinea, as well as neighbouring islands, by around 4 million people.
