Garry Thompson (darts Player)
Garry Thompson (born 9 January 1965) is a former English professional darts player who played in the British Darts Organisation tournaments. Darts career Thompson reached the quarter finals of the 2004 British Open, beating Tony David and Darryl Fitton before losing to Phill Nixon. He then reached the quarter finals of the 2007 Belgium Open, again beating Fitton along the way. He lost to Robbie Turner. On 17 February 2008 Thompson caused a major surprise by winning the 2008 Scottish Open, with notable wins against Steve Coote, World Masters champion Robert Thornton and former World Champion Martin Adams before beating Shaun Greatbatch in the final. He received £2,000 for his efforts and as a result, he shot up the BDO and WDF rankings. Thompson then won the unranked Welsh Classic, beating the Netherlands' Joey ten Berge in the final. The 2013 Lakeside World Professional Darts Championship was the 36th World Championship organised by the British Darts Organisation, and the 28th staging at the Lakeside Country Club at Frimley Green. Christian Kist was the defending men's champion, having won the title for the first time in 2012, but was knocked out in the first round against Robbie Green. Scott Waites, the third seed and pre-tournament favourite, won his first world championship by defeating Tony O'Shea 7–1, who became the first man to lose his first three BDO World Championship finals. Paul Jennings (born 22 September 1976) is an English former darts player who competed in British Darts Organisation (BDO) events. Career A native of Hartlepool in the north-east of the country, Jennings came to wider attention when he qualified for the 2012 BDO World Darts Championship. After defeating Garry Thompson 3-1 in the first round, Jennings defeated Steve Douglas 4-2 in their second round clash. He lost to fellow tournament debutant Wesley Harms in the quarter-finals, being defeated 5-3 in sets. The 2012 Lakeside World Professional Darts Championship was the 35th BDO World Darts Championship organised by the British Darts Organisation, and the 27th staging at the Lakeside Country Club at Frimley Green. It ran from 7–15 January. Martin Adams was the defending men's champion, having won the title for the third time in the previous year's final against Dean Winstanley. The defending women's champion was Trina Gulliver, who won her ninth title in the 2011 final against Rhian Edwards. Neither champion was able to defend their title as Adams lost his quarter-final against Tony O'Shea and Gulliver her semi-final against Anastasia Dobromyslova. Jan Dekker (born 25 June 1990) is a former Dutch professional darts player. He twice reached the semi-finals of the BDO World Darts Championship, in 2011 and 2014. Career Dekker qualified for the televised stages of the 2010 Winmau World Masters. He played eventual champion Martin Adams in the last 16, and was beaten 2–3 after Adams won a sudden-death leg. Alan Norris (born 21 February 1972) is a former English darts player. He was the runner-up at the 2014 BDO World Darts Championship and also lost in the final of the 2012 Zuiderduin Masters, with Stephen Bunting prevailing on both occasions. In 2015, he switched to the PDC and, after reaching the quarter-finals of the 2016 World Championship, he was named the PDC Best Newcomer of the year. The 2011 Lakeside World Professional Darts Championship was the 34th World Championship organised by the British Darts Organisation, and the 26th staging at the Lakeside Country Club at Frimley Green.
