Garry Houston
Garry Houston (born 12 May 1971) is a Welsh professional golfer. Career Houston began his golfing career as a caddie, and won the Welsh Amateur in 1994 before turning professional in 1995. He began playing on the second-tier Challenge Tour in 2000, and at the end of that season won promotion to the European Tour via qualifying school. He returned to the Challenge Tour for 2002 however, and played there for the following three seasons. In 2004 he won his first Challenge Tour title at the Galeria Kaufhof Pokal Challenge, and finished the season tenth in the rankings to earn a return to the European Tour. Houston's second spell at that level was more successful, and he played on the Tour for the following four seasons. In 2009 he divided his playing time between the European and Challenge tours, and since then has returned full-time to the Challenge Tour. Wrexham, Wales
Wrexham ( ; cy, Wrecsam; ) is a city and the administrative centre of Wrexham County Borough in Wales. It is located between the Welsh mountains and the lower Dee Valley, near the border with Cheshire in England. Leeds Cup
The Leeds Cup is a golf tournament that has been played annually in northern England since 1902. The event is organised by the north region of the Professional Golfers' Association. It is the oldest trophy in professional golf that is still played for. The Tooting Bec Cup is older, having been first played for in 1901, but is no longer contested. The Leeds Challenge Cup was first contested in May 1902 at Leeds Golf Club. PGA Cup
The PGA Cup is a men's golf competition for club professionals played between a Great Britain and Ireland team and a United States team. The winning team is presented with the Llandudno Trophy. The competition is run by the British PGA and the PGA of America. It was first played in 1973 and was an annual event until 1984, after which it became biennial. The 2022 event was held at the Foxhills Golf Club in Surrey, England, the second time that the course had been chosen to host the event. The United States won by five points, to retain the trophy they won in 2019. History The first two contests, at Pinehurst, North Carolina in 1973 and 1974, were contested for the Diamondhead Cup. The 1995 European Amateur Team Championship took place 5–9 July at Royal Antwerp Golf Club in Kapellen, Belgium, 20 kilometres north of the city center of Antwerp. It was the 19th men's golf European Amateur Team Championship. Format Each team consisted of six players, playing two rounds of opening stroke-play qualifying competition over two days, counting the five best scores each day for each team. The eight best teams formed flight A, in knock-out match-play over the next three days. The teams were seeded based on their positions after the stroke play. The 1991 European Amateur Team Championship took place 26–30 June at Real Club de la Puerta de Hierro in Madrid, Spain. It was the 17th men's golf European Amateur Team Championship. Venue The hosting club was established in 1895 as a polo club. Its first 18-hole golf course, located in the northwest of Madrid, Spain, in the district of Moncloa, 5 kilometres from the city center, designed by Harry Colt, opened in 1914. Tom Simpson designed a new 9-hole course in the 1940s and John Harris designed another nine holes in 1968. The European Amateur Team Championship is a European amateur team golf championship for men organised by the European Golf Association which was introduced in 1959. The championship was played in odd-numbered years from 1959 to 2007 and has been played annually since 2008 (with the exception of 2012). Welsh National PGA Championship
The Welsh National PGA Championship is a golf tournament played annually in Wales since 1904. For many years the event was called the Welsh Professional Championship. Currently entry is restricted to professionals employed by a Welsh club and those born in Wales or with a parent or grandparent born in Wales. 2016 was the 100th edition of the event and was won by Lydia Hall after a final round 67. History The first Championship was held at Radyr Golf Club on 15 July 1904. It was a 36-hole stroke-play event played on a single day. There were 19 entries. Tom Brace led after a 79 in the morning but fell away after an afternoon 92. The winner was the Tenby professional, Arthur Day, who had rounds of 81 and 80 for a total of 161. This put him three strokes ahead of the joint runners-up, 20-year-old George Duncan and Bill Leaver, who had finished 8th in the 1903 Open Championship. Gary Emerson
Gary Paul Emerson (born 26 September 1963) is an England, English professional golfer. Emerson was born in Bournemouth, Hampshire (now Dorset). He turned professional in 1982 and after regular trips to qualifying school finally made it onto the PGA European Tour, European Tour in 1995. He has won the 1998 Netcom Norwegian Open on the second-tier Challenge Tour and the 2004 Cadillac Russian Open on the main European Tour. 2005 was his best season to date, with a seventy-second place finish on the European Tour Order of Merit. He finished as joint runner-up at the British Masters in 2006 on his way to 76th place on that seasons money list, but his form fell away after that and he lost his European Tour card at the end of 2007.
