Garrett Wilson (ice Hockey)
Garrett Wilson (born March 16, 1991) is a Canadian professional ice hockey winger who is currently playing with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms of the American Hockey League (AHL). Wilson was selected by the Florida Panthers in the 4th round (107th overall) of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft. Playing career Wilson played major junior hockey in the Ontario Hockey League, and competed for the 2011 Memorial Cup as a member of the Owen Sound Attack. His outstanding play during the 2010–11 OHL season was recognized when he was named to the OHL First All-Star Team. On June 1, 2011, the Florida Panthers of the National Hockey League signed Wilson to an entry level contract. In the 2015–16 season, Wilson split the year between the Panthers and AHL affiliate, the Portland Pirates. Wilson was scoreless in a career-best 29 games with Florida. In ice hockey, a goal is scored when the puck entirely crosses the goal line between the two goal posts and below the goal crossbar. A goal awards one point to the team attacking the goal scored upon, regardless of which team the player who actually deflected the puck into the goal belongs to (see also own goal). The 2020–21 AHL season was the 85th season of the American Hockey League. Due to the ongoing restrictions in the COVID-19 pandemic, the start of the regular season was pushed back to February 5, 2021, and the league championship Calder Cup was not awarded for the second consecutive season. The Toronto Marlies are a professional ice hockey team based in Toronto. They compete in the American Hockey League (AHL) as a member of the North Division of the Eastern Conference. The 2019–20 AHL season was the 84th season of the American Hockey League. The regular season began October 4, 2019, and was officially cancelled on May 11, 2020. The 2020 Calder Cup playoffs, which was also cancelled, would have followed the conclusion of the regular season.
