Garliava
Garliava (), is a city in Lithuania, considered a suburb of Kaunas. Garliava is located south from the Centras (Kaunas), center of Kaunas and has a territory of 3,65 km2. In 1809 Józef Godlewski built a Holy Trinity church and named it ''Godlewo'' in his own honour, although Lithuanian language, Lithuanians started calling it ''Garliava''. This year is generally viewed as the year Garliava was founded. It lay along a significant postal route between Saint Petersburg, Kaunas, Marijampolė, and Warsaw. Godlewski also built a place of worship for Lutheranism, Lutherans and a synagogue for Judaism, Jews. Name Garliava is the Lithuanian language, Lithuanian name of the city. Kaunas District Municipality (''Kauno rajono savivaldybė'') is one of 60 municipalities in Lithuania. The seat of the municipality is the city of Kaunas, which does not belong to the municipality but is a separate administrative unit. It surrounds the Kaunas City Municipality from the north, west and south, while in the east Kaunas district municipality borders Kaišiadorys District Municipality. Kaunas District Municipality has the second largest international airport in Lithuania (Kaunas International Airport), and is well connected by major roads ( A1 highway and Via Baltica), as well as railways with other cities of Lithuania.
