Garfield Goes Hollywood
''Garfield Goes Hollywood'' is a 1987 American animated television special based on the ''Garfield'' comic strip. It once again featured Lorenzo Music as the voice of Garfield. The special was first broadcast May 8, 1987 on CBS and was nominated for Outstanding Animated Program at the 39th Primetime Emmy Awards. It has been released on both VHS and DVD home video. This was the sixth of twelve Garfield television specials made between 1982 and 1991. In the special, Garfield attempts to raise money to go to Hollywood and appear on ''Pet Search''. Storyline Garfield and Odie believe their dance routines (as performed atop a fence at night) cannot be beaten and so does Jon. They happen to be watching "Pet Search" (a pets' version of ''Star Search'') when after Garfield opines that they could come up with a better act, Jon agrees, and they come up with a great idea to go on the show after seeing a past winner. James Robert Davis (born July 28, 1945) is an American cartoonist, television writer, television producer, screenwriter, and film producer. He is best known as the creator of the comic strips ''Garfield'' and ''U.S. Acres''. Published since 1978, ''Garfield'' is one of the world's most widely syndicated comic strips. Davis's other comics work includes ''Tumbleweeds (comic strip), Tumbleweeds'', ''Gnorm Gnat'', and ''Mr. Potato Head''. Davis wrote and co-wrote all of the ''Garfield'' TV specials for CBS, originally broadcast between 1982 and 1991. He also produced ''Garfield & Friends'', a series which also aired on CBS from 1988 to 1994. The Garfield television specials are a series of twelve half-hour long American animated television specials based on the ''Garfield'' comic strip of the same name created by Jim Davis. All twelve specials were directed by Phil Roman, written by Davis, and featuring the voice of Lorenzo Music as the character. The specials were originally broadcast on CBS from 1982 to 1991. Although the first two specials were produced by Lee Mendelson Films, this boutique studio was fully committed to the production of the ''Peanuts'' animated specials and could not allocate resources for the ''Garfield'' specials. A landlocked country is a country that does not have territory connected to an ocean or whose coastlines lie on endorheic basins.
