Gareth Williams (rugby Union, Born 1981)
Gareth Williams (born 5 September 1981) is a Welsh former rugby union player who played as a flanker. Born in Aberystwyth but raised in the village of Tumble, Carmarthenshire, he played club rugby for Llanelli, Carmarthen Quins and Llandovery, and was also part of the Llanelli Scarlets regional side for the first season of regional rugby in Wales in 2002–03. At international level, he represented Wales at every level from under-16 to under-21. Williams made his senior debut for Llanelli in November 2000, and made a total of three appearances during the 2000–01 season. In January 2001, he scored two tries in a win over Abercynon. He made five appearances in the 2001–02 season, and scored another try after coming off the bench in a win over Newbridge. In 2002–03, he divided his time between Llanelli and Carmarthen Quins, playing 16 times for Llanelli and 13 times for Quins, for whom he scored all six of his tries that season. Rugby union, commonly known simply as rugby, is a close-contact team sport that originated at Rugby School in the first half of the 19th century. One of the two codes of rugby football, it is based on running with the ball in hand. Neath RFC
Neath Rugby Football Club ( cy, Clwb Rygbi Castell-Nedd) is a Welsh rugby union club which plays in the WRU Championship. The club's home ground is The Gnoll, Neath. The team is known as the All Blacks because of the team colours: black with only a white cross pattée as an emblem. Neath RFC is the oldest rugby club in Wales, having been formed in 1871. Munster Rugby ( ga, Rugbaí Mumhan) is one of the four professional provincial rugby teams from the island of Ireland. They compete in the United Rugby Championship and the European Rugby Champions Cup. Flanker (rugby Union)
Flanker is a position in the sport of rugby union. Each team of 15 players includes two flankers, who play in the Forwards (rugby union), forwards, and are generally classified as either List of rugby union terms#B, blindside or List of rugby union terms#O, openside flankers, numbers 6 and 7 respectively. The name comes from their position in a Scrum (rugby union), scrum in which they 'flank' each set of forwards. They compete for the ball – most commonly in Playing rugby union#Ruck, rucks and Playing rugby union#Maul, mauls. Flankers also assist in pushing in a scrum, but are expected to detach from the scrum as soon as the ball is out to get to the play before the opposition's forwards.
