Gareth Davies (English Politician)
Gareth Mark Davies (born 31 March 1984) is a British Conservative Party politician. He has been the Member of Parliament (MP) for the constituency of Grantham and Stamford since the 2019 general election. Early life Davies was born in Leeds, West Yorkshire. His mother and father were a state primary school teacher and a small business owner respectively. He attended a state comprehensive school before completing his undergraduate studies at the University of Nottingham, where he studied Politics and graduated with a 2:1 in 2006. He completed an Master's of Public Administration at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University in 2016, during which time he visited North Korea on a study visit. Business career Davies began working in the investment industry in 2006. The Inter-Parliamentary Alliance on China (IPAC) is an international, cross-party alliance of parliamentarians from democratic countries focused on relations with the People's Republic of China (PRC), and specifically, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). It was established on June 4, 2020, on the anniversary of the 1989 Tiananmen Square protests and massacre. The alliance comprises over 100 MPs from the world's democratic legislatures, Ireland becoming the 20th national to join the alliance in February 2021. 2010 United Kingdom General Election
The 2010 United Kingdom general election was held on Thursday 6 May 2010, with 45,597,461 registered voters entitled to vote to elect members to the House of Commons. The election took place in 650 constituencies across the United Kingdom under the first-past-the-post system. The election resulted in a large swing to the Conservative Party similar to that seen in 1979, the last time a Conservative opposition had ousted a Labour government. The Labour Party lost the 66-seat majority it had previously enjoyed, but no party achieved the 326 seats needed for a majority.
