Greta Garbo (born Greta Lovisa Gustafsson; 18 September 1905 – 15 April 1990) was a Swedish-American actress. Regarded as one of the greatest screen actresses, she was known for her melancholic, somber persona, her film portrayals of tragedy, tragic characters, and her subtle and understated performances. Gunnar Garbo
Gunnar Garbo (19 April 1924 – 29 June 2016) was a Norwegian journalist, politician, and ambassador. He represented the Liberal Party of Norway at the Norwegian Parliament during four electoral periods, from 1958 to 1973, and was leader for the party from 1964 to 1970. He was ambassador in Dar es Salaam from 1987 to 1992. Early and personal life Garbo was born in Bergen, as the son of Ingvald Garbo and Sara Haugland. His father Ingvald Garbo was shot by the Germans in 1941, for listening to radio and distributing the news. Gunnar Garbo himself had to flee to Sweden in 1943, where he joined the police troops. Ingvald Garbo
Ingvald Garbo (3 October 1891 – 22 November 1941) was a Norwegian resistance member. He was born in Bergen, to a mother from Bergen and a father from Førde. He married Sara Haugland (1897–1977) in 1924, and had two children. His son Gunnar Garbo, born 1924, was a notable politician. He was a teacher by occupation. He also contributed to newspapers such as ''Bergens Arbeiderblad''. During the occupation of Norway by Nazi Germany he listened to illegal radio broadcasts from the BBC, and distributed the news among German soldiers. He was discovered by the German occupying authorities, arrested on 8 October 1941 and executed on 22 November 1941. He was the first Norwegian with a connection to the illegal press to be executed, and according to Berit Nøkleby Berit Nøkleby (25 September 1939 – 26 July 2018) was a Norwegian historian. Raffaellino del Garbo (1466 – 1527) was a Florentine painter of the early Renaissance. Biography His real name was Raffaello di Bartolomeo dei Carli. He was also known as Raffaello Capponi after his adoptive family. The appellation "del Garbo" comes from the location of his workshop on the street formerly known as the via del Garbo, now the via della Condotta. Juan Pujol García (; 14 February 1912 – 10 October 1988), also known as Joan Pujol i García (), was a Spanish spy who acted as a double agent loyal to Great Britain against Nazi Germany during World War II, when he relocated to Britain to carry out fictitious spying activities for the Germans. He was given the codename Garbo by the British; their German counterparts codenamed him Alaric and referred to his non-existent spy network as "Arabal". After developing a loathing of political extremism of all sorts during the Spanish Civil War, Pujol decided to become a spy for Britain as a way to do something "for the good of humanity". Renato Abate (born 25 April 1958), best known as Garbo, is an Italian singer-songwriter and record producer. He is considered one of the most important exponents of Italian new wave music. Background Born in Milan, Garbo made his debut in 1981 with ''A Berlino... Va Bene'', an album influenced by the David Bowie's ''Berlin Trilogy''. The eponymous title-track was released as a single and it was met with critical success. Gregory Robert Garbowsky (born September 10, 1986) also known as Garbo, is an American musician best known as the bass guitarist for the pop rock bands Ocean Grove and the Jonas Brothers. Early life and education Garbowsky was born and raised in South Plainfield, New Jersey, the son of Lois and Robert Garbowsky. He has one sibling, Juliann. He attended John E. Riley Elementary School and began playing violin in 3rd grade. He played drums in middle school and when he was 13, he asked his parents for a bass guitar for Christmas. Garbowsky graduated from South Plainfield High School in 2004 and that fall enrolled in Seton Hall University in South Orange. ''Dirt'' (styled ''d!rt'' for logos) is an American television serial broadcast on the FX network. It premiered on January 2, 2007, and starred Courteney Cox as Lucy Spiller, the editor-in-chief of the first-of-its-kind "glossy tabloid" magazine ''DirtNow''. A 13-episode second and final season was announced on May 8, 2007. However, only seven episodes were produced before the 2007 WGA strike shut down production. Għarb
Għarb ( mt, L-Għarb) is an administrative unit of Malta, located at the westernmost point of the island of Gozo, with a population of 1,539 people (as of March 2014). History Għarb started as a small hamlet which developed around the middle ages. The word ''Għarb'' is the Arabic word for ''West'', so it should be no surprise that the village is the most westerly place on Gozo. One can see its ancient roots in the centre of the village where some houses have fine examples of decorated stone balconies. Għarb was created as a parish in 1679, a move which gave impetus for the building of a new, baroque parish church. Built between 1699 and 1729, it has an elegant façade which has been compared with Francesco Borromini's Church of Saint Agnes in Piazza Navona, Rome.
