Victor Mollo (17 September 1909 – 24 September 1987) was a British contract bridge player, journalist and author. He is most famous for his "Menagerie" series of bridge books, depicting vivid caricatures of players with animal names and mannerisms through a series of exciting and entertaining deals—bridge fables of a sort. Biography Mollo was born in St. Petersburg into a wealthy Russian-Jewish family. When he was eight, the October Revolution occurred and his family fled Russia, travelling by a purchased train, with forged Red Cross papers, crossing into Finland, then Stockholm, Paris and finally London. Mollo attended Cordwalles School but neglected his studies and devoted himself to bridge. As an editor in the European service of the British Broadcasting Corporation, he began to write books and articles on the game. Garabet Yazmaciyan
Garabet Yazmaciyan ( hy, Կարապետ Եազմաճեան, 1868 – 1929) was a prominent Ottoman painter of Armenian descent. Life According to the register of deaths in the Church of Surp Takavor in Kadıköy, Yazmaciyan was born in Üsküdar and his wife's name was Deruni. Yazmaciyan came from a family of three children who were born and grew up in Üsküdar. He was an introvert man, and a skilled violinist. His first wife, a relative of Nubar Pasha, was twenty years older than himself and died four years after they got married. Yazmaciyan's house burned down, and nothing but a few paintings were saved. While carrying these paintings to a friend's shop in Kadıköy, he was attacked and beaten by thieves, who took the paintings. For some time after this, Yazmaciyan was unable to speak from shock. Garabet Ibrăileanu (; May 23, 1871 – March 11, 1936) was a Romanian- Armenian literary critic and theorist, writer, translator, sociologist, University of Iași professor (1908–1934), and, together with Paul Bujor and Constantin Stere, for long main editor of the ''Viața Românească'' literary magazine between 1906 and 1930. He published many of his works under the pen name Cezar Vraja. Biography Ibrăileanu was born into a family of Armenian origin, in Târgu Frumos, Iași County, and attended the Roman-Vodă High School in Roman. Garabed Sarkis "Garo" Yepremian (June 2, 1944 – May 15, 2015) was a Cypriot-Armenian American football placekicker who played in the National Football League for 15 seasons, primarily with the Miami Dolphins. During his nine seasons in Miami, Yepremian was named to two Pro Bowls, twice received first-team All-Pro honors, and helped the Dolphins win two Super Bowl titles. Yepremian's first championship victory in Super Bowl VII occurred as a member of the 1972 Dolphins, the only team to complete a perfect season in NFL history. Karapet Pashayan (1864, Constantinople – 1915) was an Armenian physician, doctor and public activist. He finished the Medical College of Constantinople in 1888, then worked as a doctor in Balu and Malatia provinces. In 1890 he was arrested for the support of Armenian fedayee groups, was sentenced to death but then released after the mediation of British consul's family. In 1895 he moved to Iran and became the Persian shah's doctor. For his efforts he was awarded by the ''khan'' title. Garabed "Chuck" Haytaian (born January 28, 1938) is an American Republican Party politician, who was the Speaker of the New Jersey State Assembly during the 'tax revolt' of the James Florio – Christine Todd Whitman era. Karapetê Xaço or Karabêtê Xaço or Gerabêtê Xaço ( hy, Կարապետ Խաչո) (September 3, 1900 Salihe Kevirbiri, ''Bir Çığlığın Yüzyılı: Karapetê Xaço'', Si Yayınları, İstanbul, 2002, p. 66. or 1903 or 1908 - January 15, 2005), was an Armenian singer of traditional Kurdish '' Dengbêj'' music. Karapetê Haço was born in the village of Bileyder (now called Binatlı, Batman, in Batman province, Turkey) in the Ottoman Empire to an Armenian family in 1900. In 1915, he witnessed the annihilation of his village during the Armenian genocide.
