Gao Jiancheng
Gao Jiancheng () (October 1965 – 1998), was a political instructor of the Chinese Air Force known for fighting the 1998 Yangtze flood. Following his death in the flooding he became a Chinese propaganda icon. Personal life Gao Jiancheng was born in a peasant family in Xiangyin County in Hunan Province. After graduating from Xiangyin No.4 high school, he entered the Air Force Academy in 1984. After graduation, he served in Wuhan. He successively held posts of platoon lead, assistant engineer, deputy political instructor and political instructor. Gao's mother is Yang Youxiu(). He married Lu Bei (), with whom he had a daughter, Gao Jieyuan(). After his death, his mother sent his brother Gao Jianmin to inherit Gao's career. The Central Military Commission (CMC) is the highest national defense organization in the People's Republic of China. Lei Feng
Lei Feng (18 December 194015 August 1962) was allegedly a soldier in the People's Liberation Army who was the object of several major Propaganda in China, propaganda campaigns in China. The most well-known of these campaigns in 1963 promoted the slogan, "Follow the examples of Comrade Lei Feng." Lei was portrayed as a model citizen, and the masses were encouraged to emulate his selflessness, modesty, and devotion to Mao Zedong. After Death of Mao Zedong, Mao's death, state media continued to promote Lei Feng as a model of earnestness and service, and his image still appears in popular forms such as on T-shirts and memorabilia. Wang Jinxi
Wang Jinxi or Wang Chin-hsi (; 8 October 1923 – 15 November 1970) was a Chinese model worker and socialist hero known as 'Iron man' Wang, who led No. 1205 drilling team at Daqing Oil Field. He was the subject of a 1964 documentary '' Tieren'', "Iron Man". In 1974, Wang's life was made into a feature film ''The Pioneers'' Start An Undertaking( 创业). Zhang Lianwen played the starring role of Zhou Tingshan (), modelled after Wang Jinxi. Biography Early life Wang Jinxi was born on 1923 to a poor peasant family in Yumen City, Gansu Province. As a child, he worked as a shepherd and later as a coal bearer. Later, he started working as an apprentice in an oil field in Yumen. Following the founding of the People's Republic of China in 1949, he was assigned to No. 1205 Drilling Team at the oil field. Dong Cunrui
Dong Cunrui (; 1929 - May 25, 1948) was a Chinese Communist soldier in the People's Liberation Army during the Chinese Civil War who blew himself up in order to destroy a Kuomintang bunker guarding an approach to an important bridge in Longhua County. Death Under heavy fire, he reached the bunker, but there was no place to effectively position the explosives. Reportedly shouting "For a new China!", he detonated the explosives he carried, killing himself and the defenders within the bunker. He was posthumously awarded three "Bravery Medals" and one "Mao Zedong Medal", and his squad was titled "Dong Cunrui Training Model Squad". His sacrifice was heavily publicized by the Communists, who called him a "hero" and "model communist", and he remains well known in China. He was depicted in a 1955 film ''Dong Cunrui'' directed by Guo Wei, and a 2009 TV miniseries titled '' For a new China, forward''. The Order of the Heroic Exemplar () was the second highest military decoration, during 2011 and 2018, awarded by the Government of the People's Republic of China, only lower than the Order of August First, and was named Heroic Exemplar Medal () before 2011.
