Gao Ao
Ao Gao (born 26 July 1990 in Beijing) is a female China, Chinese water polo player who was part of the silver medal winning team at the 2007 World Junior Championship. She competed at the 2008 Summer Olympics and the 2012 Summer Olympics. She has also played water polo at Arizona State University. Water Polo
Water polo is a competitive team sport played in water between two teams of seven players each. The game consists of four quarters in which the teams attempt to score goals by throwing the ball into the opposing team's goal. The team with the most goals at the end of the game wins the match. Each team is made up of six field players and one goalkeeper. Excluding the goalkeeper, players participate in both offensive and defensive roles. It is typically played in an all-deep pool where players cannot touch the bottom. A game consists mainly of the players swimming to move about the pool, treading water (mainly using the eggbeater kick), passing the ball, and shooting at the goal. Water Polo At The 2012 Summer Olympics – Women's Tournament
The women's water polo tournament at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London was held from 30 July to 9 August at the Water Polo Arena. Teams from eight nations competed in the tournament and have been seeded into two groups for the preliminary round. A total of 24 games were played, 12 of them in the preliminary round. Format The tournament featured eight teams, separated into two groups of four teams. Each team played the other three teams in its pool once in a round-robin format. All eight teams advanced to the quarterfinal stage where they were seeded and played against a team from the other group. The winners of the quarterfinal games moved on to the semifinals, while the quarterfinal losers played a series of classification games.
