Gangsås
Gangsås or Gansås is a part of the town of Harstad within Harstad Municipality in Troms county, Norway. It is situated on the southern and western sides of a small peninsula southeast of the city center. The main neighbourhoods are ''Vollen'' (inhabited since 1975) and ''Øvre Gangsås'' (''Upper Gangsås'') (established in the 1980s). Gangsås is bounded by Stangnes to the east, Åsby and Kanebogen to the south, and Vågsfjorden to the northwest. Gangsåstoppen The ending ''ås'' in Gangsås means ''hill'', and the top of the hill is called ''Gangsåstoppen''. It is uninhabited, has an elevation of approximately above sea level, and has one of the best views of the city (to the west) and the surrounding areas, including the hills Middagsfjellet and Hinnstein. Harstad (town)
Harstad ( sme, Hárstták) is a town in Harstad Municipality in Troms og Finnmark county, Norway. The town is also the administrative centre of the municipality of Harstad. The town has a population (2017) of 20,953 which gives the town a population density of . It is the second-largest town in the former Troms county, after the city of Tromsø, and it is the largest town in Central Hålogaland. The town is located on the northeastern part of the large island of Hinnøya, along the Vågsfjorden. Stangnes
Stangnes is part of the town of Harstad within Harstad Municipality in Troms county, Norway. It is located on a small peninsula southeast of the city center, on the south and east sides of the ''Gansåsen'' hill. The neighborhood is bordered by the neighborhoods of Gangsås and Åsby to the west, Kanebogen to the southwest and the Vågsfjorden to the north and east. Many people live in the area, where the ''Stangneslia barnehage'' (kindergarten), ''Stangnes barneskole'' (primary school), and '' Stangnes videregående skole'' (high school) are all located. Vågsfjorden, Troms
Vågsfjorden is a fjord in the southern part of Troms og Finnmark county in Norway. The fjord is located between Norway's two largest islands, Hinnøya to the south and Senja to the north. The fjord connects to the Andfjorden and the Tranøyfjorden to the north, and to the Astafjorden and Tjeldsundet to the south. Senja
or is an island in Troms og Finnmark county, Norway, Europe. With an area of , it is the second largest island in Norway (outside of the Svalbard archipelago). Grytøya
or is an island in Harstad Municipality in Troms og Finnmark county, Norway. The island lies just north of the large island of Hinnøya and south of the island of Bjarkøya. It is surrounded by the Vågsfjorden in the east and the Andfjorden in the west. The highest peak on the island is the tall mountain Nona. The population of Grytøya (2017) is 433. The southeastern part of the island is the most agriculturally productive. The northern part of the island was formerly part of the old municipality of Bjarkøy, which merged with Harstad Municipality on 1 January 2013. Tjeldsundet
Tjeldsundet is a strait in Northern Norway. The long strait is located between the island of Hinnøya and mainland Norway in its northern part and between Hinnøya and the island of Tjeldøya in its southern part. Tjeldsundet has been an important waterway for more than 1,000 years and was well known and used during the Viking Age. The northern part is in Troms og Finnmark county between the municipalities of Harstad and Tjeldsund, while the southern part forms the border between Troms og Finnmark and Nordland counties between the municipalities of Tjeldsund and Lødingen.
