Raúl Gándara Cartagena
Raúl Gándara Cartagena (1910–1989) was fire chief in Ponce, Puerto Rico, and the first and longest-serving Commonwealth of Puerto Rico fire chief. He served from 1942 to 1972. Public service Gándara Cartagena was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico, on 26 March 1910. In 1930, he entered the Ponce Fire Department as Commander. In 1942, the Puerto Rico Legislature created the ''Servicio de Bomberos de Puerto Rico'' (Puerto Rico Fire Service), and the governor of the island at the time, Rexford Guy Towell, selected Raúl Gándara—who at the moment was Captain of the Ponce Fire Corps—to become Puerto Rico's first state fire chief. Gandara was Puerto Rico state chief for 30 years, making him the longest-serving state fire chief ever. Mago Orona Gándara
Margarita "Mago" Orona Gándara (February 8, 1929 – February 18, 2018) was a Chicana artist. She is known for her murals which can be seen throughout El Paso, Texas and in Ciudad Juárez. Biography Orona Gándara was born and raised in El Paso, Texas. Her nickname, "Mago," means "magician" in Spanish. She was a graduate of the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) and then went on to teach art at Bowie High School. In 1949, she saved $1,000 to go and study at the Art Institute of Chicago. She attended the Chouinard Art Institute. Orona Gándara also studied with Urbici Soler. When Orona Gándara was twenty-one, she got married and had five children. For many years, she followed her husband in his career, only separating after twenty-one years to pursue her own art career. Gandara, officially the Municipality of Gandara ''( Waray: Bungto han Gandara)'', is a 2nd class municipality in the province of Samar, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 35,242 people. The town was formerly named Bangahon, but its population was resettled to its current location on September 29, 1902. After settling in its new location, the name Gandara was given to it in commemoration of the former Governor General José de la Gándara y Navarro. Chascomús is an east central '' partido'' (administrative district) of the Province of Buenos Aires in Argentina. Some south-southeast of the city of Buenos Aires, the district has a total population of around 37,000, some 35,000 of whom live in Chascomús city, the capital of the district. Gándara
The Gándara (also known as the Soba River) is a river in Green Spain, at the north of the country. It flows through the autonomous community of Cantabria and discharges into the Asón River. The Gándara offers trout fishing. The river's name comes from the plains where it is born, known as ''La Gándara'', under the Becerral crag. Gandhāra is the name of an ancient region located in the northwestern region of the Indian subcontinent, more precisely in present-day north-west Pakistan and parts of south-east Afghanistan.
