Gandalf were an American psychedelic rock band formed in 1965 in New York City.Gandalf ''AllMusic'' Originally called the Rahgoos, the group consisted of guitarist Peter Sando, bassist Bob Muller, keyboardist Frank Hubach and drummer Davy Bauer. They signed a recording contract with Capitol Records in 1967. Biography Young is commonly said to have been born in Chicago on August 8, 1900, but according to Census data and his birth certificate, his birth year is 1899. His grave marker shows his birth year as 1901. He was born into a very musical Jewish family, his father being a tenor with Joseph Sheehan's touring opera company. After his mother died, his father abandoned the family. ''Mojo'' is a popular music magazine published monthly in the United Kingdom, initially by Emap, and since January 2008 by Bauer. Following the success of the magazine '' Q'', publishers Emap were looking for a title that would cater for the burgeoning interest in classic rock music. The magazine was designed to appeal to the 30 to 45-plus age group, or the baby boomer generation. ''Mojo'' was first published on 15 October 1993. Alan Gordon (songwriter)
Alan Lee Gordon (April 22, 1944 – November 22, 2008) was an American songwriter best known for songs recorded by the Turtles, Petula Clark, and Barbra Streisand. Many of his songs were co-written with Gary Bonner, including the Turtles' " Happy Together" and Three Dog Night's " Celebrate". He worked with various popular musicians, including Blues Magoos, Alice Cooper, the Archies, the O'Jays, Lynn Anderson, Flo & Eddie, Frank Zappa, Helen Reddy, Gary Lewis & the Playboys, Tammy Wynette, the Lovin' Spoonful, Bobby Darin, and Freddy Fender. Career Gordon was born in Natick, Massachusetts. In 1965, he and Garry Bonner formed the Magicians, a group which would also include Allan "Jake" Jacobs and John Townley. Nature Boy
"Nature Boy" is a song first recorded by American jazz singer Nat King Cole. It was released on March 29, 1948, as a single by Capitol Records, and later appeared on the album, ''The Nat King Cole Story''. It was written by eden ahbez as a tribute to Bill Pester, who practiced the Naturmensch and Lebensreform philosophies adopted by ahbez. The lyrics of the song relate to a 1940s Los Angeles-based group called "Nature Boys", a subculture of proto-hippies of which ahbez was a member. "Nature Boy" was released during the American Federation of Musicians (AFM) ban of 1948. It reached the top of the ''Billboard'' music charts and sold over a million copies, helping to establish Cole's solo career, and introducing him to the white music market. Jack Segal (October 19, 1918 – February 10, 2005) was a pianist and composer of popular American songs, known for writing the lyrics to '' Scarlet Ribbons''. His composition '' May I Come In?'' was the title track for a Blossom Dearie album. Other songs he authored or co-authored are ''When Sunny Gets Blue'', ''That's the Kind of Girl I Dream Of'', ''I Keep Going Back to Joe's'' (with Marvin Fisher), ''A Boy from Texas, a Girl from Tennessee'' (with John Benson Brooks & Joseph Allan McCarthy), ''After Me'' (with Blossom Dearie) and ''When Joanna Loved Me'' (with Robert Wells). It has been estimated that his songs have helped sell 65 million records. Evelyn Danzig Levine (January 16, 1902 – July 26, 1996) was an American Tin Pan Alley songwriter, who was a one hit wonder best known for co-writing the music for the folk style ballad popular song " Scarlet Ribbons", published in 1949, with lyrics by her collaborator Jack Segal. Biography Danzig, the youngest of six children born to Ethel and Morris Danzig (from Danzig), was born in Waco, Texas, the sister of Allison Danzig, a noted sports writer for ''The New York Times'' from 1923 through 1967.
