Twelve downloadable content "game packs" have been released for the 2014 life simulation game, life simulation video game ''The Sims 4'', the fourth major title in ''The Sims'' series. All game packs are developed by Maxis and published by Electronic Arts, for the Microsoft Windows, macOS, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One platforms. Game packs are intended to be smaller than Expansion packs for The Sims 4, full expansion packs. The first game pack, ''#Outdoor Retreat, Outdoor Retreat'', was released on January 13, 2015. The twelfth and most recent game pack, ''Game packs for The Sims 4#Werewolves, Werewolves'', was released on June 16, 2022. ''Outdoor Retreat'' ''The Sims 4: Outdoor Retreat'' is the first game pack for ''The Sims 4'', released on January 13, 2015. Maxis is an American video game developer and a Division (business), division of Electronic Arts (EA). The studio was founded in 1987 by Will Wright (game designer), Will Wright and Jeff Braun, and acquired by Electronic Arts, EA in 1997. Maxis is best known for its simulation games, including ''The Sims'', ''Spore (2008 video game), Spore'' and ''SimCity''. In the late 2010s, Maxis suffered from a series of studio closures and layoffs. This included the shutdown of Maxis Emeryville in 2015, EA Salt Lake in 2017, and a wave of layoffs at Redwood Shores in 2018.
