"Game On" is a song by Welsh alternative rock band Catatonia, released as the fifth and final single from their second studio album, '' International Velvet'' (1998), in October 1998. It was written by band members Cerys Matthews and Mark Roberts and produced by TommyD and the band. Commercially, the song charted on the UK Singles Chart, peaking at number 33. Recording and release "Game On" was the fifth single release from Catatonia's second studio album, '' International Velvet''. Earlier releases from the album had included " Mulder and Scully", which became the break-out song for the band, and "Road Rage" which was nominated for best song at the Brit Awards, the Ivor Novello Awards, and won at the Q Awards. Catatonia (band)
Catatonia were an alternative rock band from Wales who gained popularity in the mid-to-late 1990s. The band formed in 1992 after Mark Roberts met Cerys Matthews and Kirsty Kennedy. The first major lineup featured Dafydd Ieuan of Super Furry Animals on drums, Paul Jones on bass, and Clancy Pegg on keyboards. With this line-up the band recorded two EPs, ''For Tinkerbell'' and ''Hooked''. Pegg was fired prior to work on their first studio album, ''Way Beyond Blue'', and during the recording of the album the band was joined by drummer Aled Richards, replacing Ieuan, who left to focus full-time on Super Furry Animals. During the live promotional appearances for the album the band was joined by guitarist Owen Powell. This latest incarnation of the band lasted until its dissolution in 2001. Paul Read is a recording engineer and music producer. He started his professional recording career at Rockfield Studios where he became a house engineer. Some of his most successful work as recording engineer includes Nigel Kennedy’s string arrangements for the Donovan album ‘Sutras’ (produced by Rick Rubin), Catatonia, including sessions for ‘International Velvet’ (3× platinum) and Coldplay ‘Parachutes’ (9× platinum). Llangollen
Llangollen () is a town and community, situated on the River Dee, in Denbighshire, Wales. Its riverside location forms the edge of the Berwyn range, and the Dee Valley section of the Clwydian Range and Dee Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with the easternmost point of the Dee Valley Way being within the town. ''Equally Cursed and Blessed'' is the third studio album by Welsh band Catatonia, released in April 1999 via Blanco y Negro Records. It reached number one in the UK Album Chart, and three singles were released from it: " Dead from the Waist Down", " Londinium" and " Karaoke Queen". Recording While touring in the United States following the success of their second studio album, '' International Velvet'', Catatonia recorded sample demos onto a DPS12 hard disk recorder in their tour bus upon the recommendation of their producer, TommyD. They returned to the Monnow Valley Studio in Monmouth, Wales, where they had recorded the previous album, to record ''Equally Cursed and Blessed''. ''Greatest Hits'' is a compilation album of Welsh alternative rock band Catatonia's best known songs, mainly the singles, but also includes collaborations between Cerys Matthews with Space (on "The Ballad of Tom Jones") and with Tom Jones himself (on "Baby, It's Cold Outside"). The album was released as a 1CD and 2CD limited edition. The second disc of the two CD edition included lesser known album only tracks and some B-Sides, where although 10 tracks are listed, two hidden tracks are included at the end; "All Girls Are Fly" and "Blues Song". Despite the band having not releasing any new material since their splitting following their last album, '' Paper Scissors Stone'', yet another compilation was released in 2006, '' The Platinum Collection''.
