Gallions Railway Station
Gallions was the name of two distinct railway stations that adjoined the River Thames by Gallions Reach in Beckton, east London. First station and branch opening Construction of a line from Custom House to Gallions was authorised by the parliamentary act that also approved the construction of the Royal Albert Dock, and the branch was opened by the London & St. Katharine Docks Company on 3 August 1880 as far as Central. The full line to the first Gallions station, which was the eastern terminus and had two platforms, opened in November 1880. There were two commercial reasons for building the branch: firstly the size of the docks necessitated a transport link to enable the business of the dock and commuting to and from the docks to be carried out; secondly Albert Dock handled passengers and easier passenger access to the quays were required for ships that left to all parts of the British Empire. Gallions Reach
Gallions Reach is a stretch of the River Thames between Woolwich and Thamesmead. Bromley-by-Bow Tube Station
Bromley-by-Bow is a London Underground station located on the Blackwall Tunnel Northern Approach Road in the Bromley-by-Bow area of London, United Kingdom. The station is below the Blackwall Tunnel Northern Approach Road and lies between Bow Road and West Ham stations on the District and Hammersmith & City lines, and is in both Travelcard Zones 2 and 3. Manor Way Railway Station
Manor Way was a railway station on East Ham Manor Way, south of Beckton in east London, on the London & St. Katharine Docks Company's line. It opened in November 1880 between Central and Gallions stations on the Gallions branch of the line, and was re-sited to the east side of the Manor Way in 1887. Manor Way was sparingly used by passenger services, which ceased in 1940 after wartime bombing, and the goods line closed with the subsequent closure of the Royal Docks. With the redevelopment of the Docklands region in the 1980s and 1990s, the line was replaced in 1994 by the Docklands Light Railway extension to Beckton. London Docklands is the riverfront and former docks in London. Royal Docks
Royal Docks is an area and a ward in the London Borough of Newham in the London Docklands in East London, England. The area is named after three docks – the Royal Albert Dock, the Royal Victoria Dock and the King George V Dock. They are more correctly called the Royal Group of Docks to distinguish them from the Royal Dockyards, Royal being due to their naming after members of the royal family rather than Crown ownership. The three docks collectively formed the largest enclosed docks in the world, with a water area of nearly and an overall estate of . Victoria Park Railway Station (London)
Victoria Park (opened as Victoria Park & Hackney Wick) was a railway station near Victoria Park, east London, that was on the North London Railway (NLR) which opened in September 1850 to Bow (where the trains turned east into the London and Blackwall Railway's Fenchurch Street station) and to the London Docks in January 1852. A line linking the NLR line to the Eastern Counties Railway (ECR) at Stratford was built with a junction east of the first station site in 1854, and two years after that the first station opened with a station building in Wick Road. At the time the station was between Hackney and Bow on the north London Railway with other stations opening later, The original station was replaced in March 1866 by a larger station at the junction itself to cope with increased passenger numbers and this station lasted until closure in 1943. Port Of London Authority
The Port of London Authority (PLA) is a self-funding public trust established on 31 March 1909 in accordance with the Port of London Act 1908 to govern the Port of London. Bow Road Railway Station
Bow Road is a closed railway station in Bow, East London, that was opened in 1876 on the Bow Curve branch line by the Great Eastern Railway (GER). The station building was situated slightly west of a former North London Railway (NLR) station called and near the current Underground station and DLR station.
