Gallikos Kilkis Railway Staion
Gallikos ( el, Γαλλικός) is a village and a former municipality in the Kilkis regional unit, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Kilkis, of which it is a municipal unit. The municipal unit has an area of 149.054 km2. Population 6,343 (2011). The seat of the municipality was in the village of Kampanis. The municipality Gallikos was created after 13 small villages in the area south of the city of Kilkis merged in the late 1990s when the Greek government implemented its Kapodistrias project to fuse - and thus limit the number of - local authorities in the country. Central Macedonia
Central Macedonia ( el, Κεντρική Μακεδονία, Kentrikí Makedonía, ) is one of the thirteen administrative regions of Greece, consisting of the central part of the geographical and historical region of Macedonia. Thessaloniki–Alexandroupoli Railway
The Thessaloniki–Alexandroupoli railway is an about 440 km long railway in northern Greece connecting the Central Macedonian city of Thessaloniki with Alexandroupoli in Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, via Serres. There is a connection towards Sofia at the Strymonas station. This railway was built in 1896 by The Compagnie du Chemin de Fer Ottoman Jonction Salonique-Constantinople (JSC). , there is regular passenger service twice-daily to Alexandroupoli with connecting services to Dikaia, as well as international services to Sofia, to Belgrade via Skopje. Gallikos Railway Station
Gallikos railway station ( el, Σιδηροδρομικός Σταθμός Γαλλικός, Sidirodromikós stathmós Gallikos) is a railway station that servers the community of Gallikos, in Kilkis in East Macedonia and Thrace, Greece. The station is located just east of the settlement but still within the settlement limits. The station (as of 2021) is unstaffed, with the station buildings abandoned and left to decay. History The station opened in 1900. Gallikos was annexed by Greece on 18 October 1912 during the First Balkan War. On 17 October 1925, The Greek government purchased the Greek sections of the former Salonica Monastir railway, and the railway became part of the Hellenic State Railways, with the remaining section north of Florina seeded to Yugoslavia. Perinthos, Kilkis
Perinthos (, old name: Kavakli) is a small village in the community Pedino, in the municipal unit Gallikos, Kilkis regional unit, Greece. The first residents moved there in 1923 from Asia Minor after the Asia Minor destruction in land plots that were allocated by EAP. Most of the residents originate from the wider region of Raidestos in Eastern Thrace. The village became the theatre of military conflict during the duration of the Greek civil war, while in the post-war season it accommodated a high of 70 families. The residents were mostly farmers and livestock dealers. The village had a small school (not working) and a church (Holly Cross church) that dates from 1939. In the early 1950s the village depopulated rapidly due to rising unemployment and increased urbanism to Thessaloniki and other smaller cities. Eventually the village was abandoned. Pedino, Kilkis
Pedino ( el, Πεδινό) is a village in the Kilkis regional unit, Greece, with a population of 817 inhabitants as per the 2011 National Census. The community Pedino (pop. 839 in 2011) consists of the villages Pedino and Perinthos. There were approx 1400 registered voters in the 2006 local elections. However, many voters reside in the big nearby cities of Kilkis and Thessaloniki and retain their voting rights to the village. The village has a large population of Greek Thracians (Θρακιωτες) from the area of Eastern Thrace, or Eastern Romylia as it also known. A majority emigrated to Pedino from the villages Neo Gennikio, Aivali, Alepli & Koumbourlari, Eastern Thrace. Nea Santa ( el, Νέα Σάντα, old name Volovot until 1926), is a small town in Kilkis regional unit, in the Central Macedonia region of Greece. It has a population of 1,693 (2011 census). Mandres ( gr, Μάνδρες, bg, Хамбаркьой) is a village South of the City of Kilkis in the Kilkis regional unit, Greece. Kilkis ( el, Περιφερειακή ενότητα Κιλκίς) is one of the regional units of Greece, in the geographic region of Macedonia. It is part of the region of Central Macedonia. Its capital is the city of Kilkis.
