Galil Brinkhuis
Galil Brinkhuis is a South African politician. He is the sole representative of Al Jama-ah in the Western Cape Provincial Parliament. Brinkhuis was placed 4th on Al Jama-ah's provincial list and 12th on the party's national list for the 2019 general elections. In October 2019, Brinkhuis was sworn in as a Member of the Western Cape Provincial Parliament. This followed the cessation of Izgak De Jager's membership. Brinkhuis serves on the Budget Committee, the Standing Committee on Education, and the Standing Committee on Community Safety, Cultural Affairs and Sport. Brinkhuis received traditional Islamic training from the Darul 'Uloom Zakariyya seminary based in Johannesburg in 2004, earning him the title of ''Mawlana''. Al Jama-ah
Al Jama-ah (, ) is a South African political party. It was formed in 2007 by present leader Ganief Hendricks and contested the 2009, 2014 and 2019 national elections. The party aims to support Muslim interests and uphold Shari'a law. The flag of Al Jama-ah depicts a white gim (, the first letter in its Arabic name), upon a field consisting of the other Islamic colours. Western Cape Provincial Parliament
The Western Cape Provincial Parliament (WCPP) is the legislature of the Western Cape province of South Africa. It is located at 7 Wale Street in Cape Town. The Provincial Parliament, along with the other provincial legislatures of South Africa, exists by virtue of Chapter 6 of the Constitution of South Africa and Chapter 3 of the Constitution of the Western Cape. It is unicameral, and consists of 42 members elected by a system of party-list proportional representation. 2019 South African General Election
General elections were held in South Africa on 8 May 2019 to elect a new President, National Assembly and provincial legislatures in each province. These were the sixth elections held since the end of apartheid in 1994 and determined who would become the next President of South Africa. Izgak De Jager (born 1963/1964) is a South African politician who served as a Member of the Western Cape Provincial Parliament for the Al Jama-ah party from May 2019 until October 2019.
