Gagan Ajit Singh
Gagan Ajit Singh (born 9 December 1980) is an Indian former field hockey player who played as a forward. He was the captain of the India national under-21 team that won the 2001 Junior World Cup. He was a member of the Indian senior national team that played at two Olympic Games — 2000 Sydney and 2004 Athens. Biography Gagan Ajit Singh was born on 9 December 1980 in Firozpur, a city in the Indian State of Punjab. His father Ajit Singh was also an Olympian and played for India at the 1976 Montreal Olympics. His uncle is another Olympian Harmik Singh. Gagan Ajit was educated at the Union Academy Senior Secondary School and Jamia Millia Islamia in New Delhi. Singh trained in hockey at the Government Arts and Sports College in Jalandhar in 1995. In 1997, he was selected by New Delhi's Air India Hockey Academy to compete in the junior national tournament. Singh scored 26 goals and emerged as the tournament's top-scorer. The 2001 Men's Hockey Junior World Cup was the seventh edition of the Hockey Junior World Cup. It was held from 9–21 October October 2001 in Hobart, Australia. India won the tournament for the first time by defeating Argentina 6–1 in the final. Germany won the bronze medal by defeating England 5–1 in the third and fourth place playoff. Russia Men's National Field Hockey Team
The Russia men's national field hockey team represents Russia in international field hockey competitions. In response to the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, the FIH banned Russia from the 2022 Women's FIH Hockey Junior World Cup, and banned Russian and Belarusian officials from FIH events. In addition, the European Hockey Federation banned the participation of all Russian athletes and officials from all events sanctioned by the Federation. Jamia Millia Islamia () is a central university located in New Delhi, India. Originally established at Aligarh, United Provinces (present-day Uttar Pradesh, India) during the British Raj in 1920, it moved to its current location in Okhla in 1935. Harmik Singh (born 10 June 1945) is a former captain of the Indian field hockey team and coach. He played for India in many tournaments including the 1968 and 1972 Summer Olympics.
