Gabrielle McFadden
Gabrielle McFadden is an Irish former Fine Gael politician who served as a Senator for the Cultural and Educational Panel from 2016 to 2020. She served as a Teachta Dála (TD) for the Longford–Westmeath constituency from 2014 to 2016. The by-election was caused by the death of her sister Nicky McFadden, who was a Fine Gael TD. In December 2014, she was appointed to the Public Accounts Committee and to the Select Committee on Justice, Defence and Equality. McFadden was a member of Westmeath County Council for the Athlone local electoral area from 2009 to 2014. She was the Mayor of Athlone from 2013 to 2014. She vacated her council seat before the Dáil by-election. She lost her Dáil seat at the 2016 general election. Seanad Éireann (, ; "Senate of Ireland") is the upper house of the Oireachtas (the Irish legislature), which also comprises the President of Ireland and Dáil Éireann (the lower house). It is commonly called the Seanad or Senate and its members senators (''seanadóirí'' in Irish, singular: ''seanadóir''). Unlike Dáil Éireann, it is not directly elected but consists of a mixture of members chosen by various methods. This is a list of the members of the 25th Seanad Éireann, the upper house of the Oireachtas (legislature) of Ireland. 49 Senators were elected in April 2016 when postal voting closed. The Taoiseach nominated an additional eleven members to the Seanad in May 2016. The Seanad election took place after the 2016 general election to Dáil Éireann. Electoral system There are 60 seats in the Seanad: 43 Senators are elected by the Vocational panels, 6 elected by the two University constituencies, and 11 are nominated by the Taoiseach. An independent or non-partisan politician is a politician not affiliated with any political party or bureaucratic association. Kevin "Boxer" Moran
Kevin Moran (born 12 May 1963) is an Irish former Independent politician who has served as a Minister of State from 2017 to 2020. He served as a Teachta Dála (TD) for the Longford–Westmeath constituency from 2016 to 2020. He was a member of Westmeath County Council from 1999 to 2016, and represented Fianna Fáil until 2011. In January 2006, he contested Fianna Fáil's nomination to stand at the 2007 general election, being narrowly defeated by Mary O'Rourke. He contested the 2014 by-election as an Independent candidate, but failed to win a seat. He joined the Independent Alliance ahead of the 2016 general election.
