The Gorinchemse Voetbalvereniging Unitas is a Dutch association football club from Gorinchem. It is among the oldest football clubs of the Netherlands and for most of the 20th century played in the highest leagues of amateur football. In 2018 the first team of GVV Unitas returned to the Hoofdklasse. They won promotion to the Derde Divisie in 2020. History GVV Unitas was founded on 19 April 1898. It joined the main KNVB leagues in 2007, initially as a Derde Klasse team. In 2011 Unitas promoted to the Tweede Klasse. In 1924 it won a Tweede Klasse championship, promoting to the Eerste Klasse, at that time the highest league of Dutch football. In 1926 Unitas relegated to the Tweede Klasse. It won Tweede Klasse championships in 1928, 1944, and 1946 but did not promote to the costly leading league. Johannes Adrianus "Hans" Vonk (; born 30 January 1970) is a retired South African professional football goalkeeper of Dutch parentage who last played for Ajax Cape Town FC. Career Netherlands Vonk began his professional career at RKC Waalwijk where he made 25 appearances in three seasons. He became first-choice goal keeper for FC Wageningen, but was forced to leave after just one season, when the club went bankrupt and ceased to exist. Vonk returned to North Brabant where he played for FC Den Bosch, before joining his first club RKC, this time as their first keeper. His breakthrough came with his transfer to sc Heerenveen, a club on the rise. They reached a domestic cup final in 1996–97 and finished second in the league in 1999–2000, resulting in UEFA Champions League football the next season. Robert Verbeek (born 26 July 1961) is a Dutch former soccer player and subsequently a manager. He currently coaches the first football squad of RV & AV Sparta. Verbeek is the younger brother of former Oman manager Pim Verbeek. As a player, he featured for Sparta Rotterdam, where he retired at the age of 21. Johannes "Jan" Wilhelmus Peters (born 18 August 1954) is a Dutch former professional footballer and coach. Najim Haddouchi (born 9 June 1997) is a Dutch football player of Moroccan descent who plays for GVV Unitas.
