''GURPS Japan'', full title ''GURPS Japan: Roleplaying in the World of the Shogunate'' (1st edition) or ''GURPS Japan: Beauty, Terror, and Adventure'' (2nd edition), is a sourcebook for ''GURPS'', a role-playing game by Steve Jackson Games. The first edition was published in 1988. Authors Lee Gold is an author, editor, game designer, and filk musician. In 1975, Gold founded ''Alarums and Excursions'', a monthly amateur press association for RPG writers. She has served as editor ever since. ''Alarums and Excursions'' won the Charles S. Roberts Award for Best Amateur Wargame Magazine in 1984, and the Origins Award for Best Amateur Game Periodical in 2000, 2001, and 2002. Gold designed the RPGs ''Land of the Rising Sun'' (1980) and '' Lands of Adventure'' (1983), published by Fantasy Games Unlimited. She also published ''Vikings'' for Iron Crown Enterprises. Lee Gold
Lee Gold is a member of California science fiction fandom and a writer and editor in the role-playing game and filk music communities. Gaming Gold became prominent after 1975 as the editor of '' Alarums and Excursions'', a monthly amateur press association to which RPG writers have contributed over the years. It won the Charles S. Roberts Award for Best Amateur Wargame Magazine in 1984, and the Origins Award for Best Amateur Game Periodical in 2000, 2001, and 2002. Gold began the publication at the request of Bruce Pelz, who felt that discussion of ''Dungeons & Dragons'' was taking up too much space in APA-L, an amateur press association loosely associated with the Los Angeles Science Fantasy Society. Iron Crown Enterprises
Iron Crown Enterprises (ICE) is a publishing company that has produced role playing, board, miniature, and collectible card games since 1980. Many of ICE's better-known products were related to J. R. R. Tolkien's world of Middle-earth, but the ''Rolemaster'' rules system, and its science-fiction equivalent, '' Space Master'', have been the foundation of ICE's business. ''Casus Belli'' is a French magazine about role-playing games, published in different formats since 1980. It contains news, reviews, interviews, features, and role-playing game materials. The magazine was published by Excelsior Publications until 1999, by Arkana Press in 2000–2006, and by Casus Belli Presse in 2010–2011, and has been published by Black Book Éditions since 2011. The ''Legend of the Five Rings Roleplaying Game'' is a role-playing game originally written by John Wick and published by Alderac Entertainment Group, under license from Five Rings Publishing Group, in 1997. The game uses the Legend of the Five Rings setting, primarily the nation of Rokugan, which is based on feudal Japan with influences from other East Asian cultures. Like most role-playing games, ''Legend of the Five Rings'' is played by one or more players and a game master, who controls the events that happen during the game as well as the non-player characters (NPCs). ''Legend of the Five Rings'' features many courtiers and other non-combatant character types as valid player characters. ''Sengoku: Chanbara Roleplaying in Feudal Japan'' is a role-playing game set in 16th-century Japan. Contents ''Sengoku'' comes as a single book. It uses the ''Fuzion'' rules system, which is highly rated for flexibility but can be difficult to learn. There are detailed descriptions of society, weapons, language, locations and such, a comprehensive filmography, and quotations scattered throughout the book. The tone can be realistic, heroic as in Akira Kurosawa films, or super heroic as in many manga comic books. Publication history ''Sengoku'' was created by Anthony J. Bryant and Mark Arsenault, and published by Gold Rush Games in 1999. A revised edition of ''Sengoku'' was published in 2002. Kenneth Hite
Kenneth Hite (born September 15, 1965) is a writer and role-playing game designer. Hite is the author of Trail of Cthulhu and Night's Black Agents role-playing games, and lead designer of the 5th edition of '' Vampire: the Masquerade''. Education Hite holds an M.A. in International Relations from the University of Chicago and a bachelor's degree in Cartography from East Central University. Career Kenneth Hite has been designing games part-time since 1981 and full-time since 1995. Some of his early design work was featured in the ''Nephilim'' role-playing game for Chaosium before the line closed down in 1997.
