GU022
''Global Underground 022: Dave Seaman, Melbourne'' is a 2002 DJ mix album in the Global Underground series, compiled and mixed by Dave Seaman. The album peaked at #8 on the ''Billboard'' Top Electronic Albums chart. GU returns Down Under as Dave Seaman mans the controls. As one of the original international superstars to build a reputation for himself in Australia, it was fitting that this mix was put together around one of his regular visits there. As one of GU's most prolific DJs (this is his third outing for the City series), the deeper, darker sound explored on 022 was not to the tastes of some fans of his previous discs on the famously unforgiving GU Forum, but equally confirmed his status as one of the most talented, exciting jocks in the world to many others. Progressive Dance Music

It initially developed in the United Kingdom as a natural progression of American and European house music of the late 1980s.Gerard, Morgan; Sidnell, Jack. ''Popular Music and Society'' 24.3 (Fall 2000): 21–39. Etymology In the context of popular music the word "progressive" was first used widely in the 1970s to differentiate experimental forms of rock music from mainstream styles. Such music attempted to explore alternate approaches to rock music production. Some acts also attempted to elevate the aesthetic values of rock music by incorporating features associated with classical instrumental music. This led to a style of music called progressive rock, which has been described as "the most self-consciously arty branch of rock." In disco music, and later house music, a similar desire to separate more exploratory styles from standard approaches saw DJs and producers adopti ...
