GT America Series
The GT America Series is a sports car racing series based in the United States which runs as a support series to the GT World Challenge America. It is managed by the Stéphane Ratel Organisation and sanctioned by the United States Auto Club. History The series was announced in October 2020, replacing the GT Sports Club America and the Sprint category of the GT4 America Series. The first race was run on March 6, 2021 and was won by George Kurtz. At the end of the opening season, Charlie Luck was crowned the inaugural overall champion, while Jason Bell won the GT4 class championship. Class structure The series places strong emphasis on Bronze-rated and gentleman drivers in the single-driver sprint race format. Races are 40 minutes in length, with no required pit stops. Grand Tourer
A grand tourer (GT) is a type of car that is designed for high speed and long-distance driving, due to a combination of performance and luxury attributes. The most common format is a front-engine, rear-wheel-drive two-door coupé with either a two-seat or a 2+2 arrangement. Grand tourers are most often the coupé derivative of luxury saloons or sedans. The term is a near-calque from the Italian language phrase ''gran turismo'' which became popular in the English language from the 1950s, evolving from fast touring cars and streamlined closed sports cars during the 1930s. Group GT3
Group GT3, known technically as Cup Grand Touring Cars and commonly referred to as simply GT3, is a set of regulations maintained by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) for grand tourer racing cars designed for use in various auto racing series throughout the world. The GT3 category was initially created in 2005 by the SRO Group as a third rung in the ladder of grand touring motorsport, below the Group GT1 and Group GT2 categories which were utilized in the SRO's FIA GT Championship, and launched its own series in 2006 called the FIA GT3 European Championship. Riley Technologies LLC is an American auto racing constructor and team specializing in the design and manufacture of complete race cars, as well as prototype development for racing and manufacturing applications. In 2001, Bob Riley and son Bill, formerly of Riley & Scott, formed Riley Technologies. The company moved their headquarters to Mooresville, North Carolina in late 2006. The 2022 GT America Series will be the second season of the SRO Motorsports Group's GT America Series, an auto racing series for grand tourer cars. James Sofronas (born September 9, 1968) is an American racing driver and the founder of Global Motorsports Group. Motorsports career Sofronas began his racing career in the early 1990s, purchasing a Nissan NX 2000 which was eligible for the Sports Car Club of America, SCCA SSB category. In order to make enough money to race it, Sofronas worked as a salesman at Pitney Bowes, using the street-legal car on sales calls despite the fact it had no air conditioning unit. In 1994, he acquired an SCCA Pro Racing license and took part in the SCCA Pro Racing World Challenge, driving an Oldsmobile Cutlass Calais, Oldsmobile Calais in the Super Production class. A pay driver is a driver for a professional auto racing team who, instead of being paid by the owner of their car, drives for free and brings with them either personal sponsorship or personal or family funding to finance the team's operations. This may be done to gain on-track experience or to live the lifestyle of a driver in a particular series when one's talent or credentials do not merit a paying ride. George Kurtz
George Kurtz is the co-founder and CEO of cybersecurity company CrowdStrike. He was also the founder of Foundstone and chief technology officer of McAfee. Early life and education Kurtz grew up in Parsippany-Troy Hills, New Jersey and attended Parsippany High School.
