GO Transit Bus Services
GO Transit bus services are provided throughout the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area (GTHA) and the Greater Golden Horseshoe. In , the system had a ridership of . While GO Transit started as a single train line in 1967, 15 buses were introduced on September 8, 1970, extending service beyond the original Lakeshore line to Hamilton and Oshawa, as well as providing service north to Newmarket and Barrie. In 1989, GO started running buses between outer train stations and Union at off-peak times when trains were not scheduled. The bus network started expanding beyond train lines, feeding rail service and serving communities beyond the reach of existing trains. The Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area (GTHA) is a contiguous urban region that is composed of some of the largest cities and metropolitan areas by population in the Canadian province of Ontario. Confederation GO Station
Confederation GO Station is a GO bus stop and planned train station to be built by Metrolinx in East Hamilton, Ontario. The station is named for Confederation Beach Park, nearby on Lake Ontario. The station is planned as part of the anticipated expansion of GO Transit's Lakeshore West line service to Niagara Falls. Construction on the site began in 2017, however opening of the rail station was delayed several times. In October 2022 construction on the rail station resumed and is expected to be completed in 2025. History Beginning in 2014, CN Rail managed the replacement of the Centennial Parkway rail bridge, in partnership with the City of Hamilton and GO Transit. Clarkson GO Station
Clarkson GO Station is a GO Transit railway station and bus station in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. It is a stop on the Lakeshore West line train service, serving the Clarkson neighbourhood. History The original railway station was located about 800 meters to the east of the present day station, on the north side of the railway tracks, behind Warren Clarkson's store and Post Office on the west side of Clarkson Road (Today Clarkson Road North). It was built in 1853 by the Great Western Railway at the corner of the property which became known as Clarkson's Corner. The apostrophe in Clarkson's was removed from the sign in 1956, on the CNR station which burned down in 1962, although Corner had long since disappeared from usage. The station brought commerce to local fruit and vegetable farmers, with corn, apples and especially strawberries being the main produce in Clarkson. Lakeshore West Line
Lakeshore West is one of the seven train lines of the GO Transit system in the Greater Toronto Area, Ontario, Canada. It extends from Union Station in Toronto to Hamilton, with occasional trips extending to St. Catharines and Niagara Falls. Hamilton GO Centre is a commuter rail station and bus terminal in downtown Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. As the terminal stop for evening rush-hour Lakeshore West line trains, it is a major hub for GO Transit bus and train services. The Union Station Bus Terminal is the central intercity bus terminal in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It is located in Downtown Toronto on the second floor of the south tower of CIBC Square, on the northeast corner of Bay Street and Lake Shore Boulevard.
