GIMPshop
GIMPshop was a modification of the free and open source graphics program GNU Image Manipulation Program (GIMP), with the intent to replicate the feel of Adobe Photoshop. Its primary purpose has been to make users of Photoshop feel comfortable using GIMP. According to the developer, Scott Moschella: History GIMPshop was created by Scott Moschella of Next New Networks (formerly ''Attack of the Show!'') as an unofficial fork of GIMP. He encountered resistance from GIMP's lead developers due to the methods he employed to implement his hacks. GIMPshop was originally developed for Mac OS X and is a Universal Binary. Universal Binary
The universal binary format is, in Apple parlance, a format for executable files that run natively on either PowerPC or Intel-manufactured IA-32 or Intel 64 or ARM64-based Macintosh computers. The format originated on NeXTStep as " Multi-Architecture Binaries", and the concept is more generally known as a ''fat binary'', as seen on Power Macintosh. With the release of Mac OS X Snow Leopard, and before that, since the move to 64-bit architectures in general, some software publishers such as Mozilla have used the term "universal" to refer to a fat binary that includes builds for both i386 (32-bit Intel) and x86_64 systems. GimPhoto
GimPhoto is a modification of the free and open source graphics program GNU Image Manipulation Program (GIMP), with the intent to be a free replacement to Adobe Photoshop. It has a new menu layout, new brushes and gradient sets. Its primary purpose is to enhance GIMP in terms of user interface, use of the best plugins and other resources combined with the latest stable version of GIMP. Because the menu layouts are much closer to Photoshop's, adaptation from Photoshop is much quicker than GIMP. Version 24.1 for Windows is with new installer for Windows 8.1 including 7 and new 10. Version 26.1 for Mac OS X 10.6+ is also available. It is based on GIMP 2.6.8 and needs X11. Seashore (software)
Seashore is a free and open-source image editor for macOS, similar to Photoshop/GIMP, with a simpler Cocoa user interface. Seashore uses GIMP's native file format, XCF, and has support for a handful of other graphics file formats, including full support for TIFF, PNG, JPEG, JPEG2000, and HEIC and read-only support for BMP, PDF, SVG and GIF. Seashore offers fewer features than Photoshop/GIMP, but is intended to be easy-to-use and to run natively on macOS. It includes layers and alpha channel support, gradients and transparency effects, anti-aliased brushes, tablet support and plug-in filters. After several years without maintenance, development was restarted by Robert Engels in 2017 to allow it to run on newer versions of macOS. A multiple-document interface (MDI) is a graphical user interface in which multiple windows reside under a single parent window. Such systems often allow child windows to embed other windows inside them as well, creating complex nested hierarchies.
