GEMIX
The GEMIX is a report commissioned by the Belgian Minister of Climate and Energy, Paul Magnette. The full title in French is ''Quel mix énergétique idéal pour la Belgique aux horizons 2020 et 2030?''. It was completed on 30 September 2009Groupe Gemix, Quel mix énergétique idéal pour la Belgique aux horizons 2020 et 2030?'' and published on 9 October 2009. The report received a lot of publicity, due mainly to its recommendations on nuclear power. It was written by Dominique Woitrin, Marie Pierre Fauconnier, Danielle Devogelaer, Jacques Percebois, Luigi De Paoli, Jacques De Ruyck and Wolfgang Eichhammer. Energy in Belgium describes energy and electricity production, consumption and import in Belgium. It is governed by the energy policy of Belgium, which is split over several levels of government. For example, the regional level is responsible for awarding green certificates (except for offshore wind parks) and the national level for anything concerning nuclear power. Paul Magnette
Paul Magnette (born 28 June 1971) is a Belgian politician for the Socialist Party, the current mayor of Charleroi and former political science professor at the Université libre de Bruxelles (ULB). He was the 13th Minister-President of Wallonia from 2014 to 2017. Biography Born on 28 June 1971 in Leuven, he grew up in Charleroi and studied political science at ULB – Free University of Brussels (1989–1994) and at Cambridge University (1994–1995). He was a researcher at the FNRS - Scientific Research Fund (1995–2001) and obtained a PhD in 1999 with a dissertation ''Citoyenneté et construction européenne''. His research interest is on institutional policies, the European Union, and theories of democracy. Nuclear Power
Nuclear power is the use of nuclear reactions to produce electricity. Nuclear power can be obtained from nuclear fission, nuclear decay and nuclear fusion reactions. Presently, the vast majority of electricity from nuclear power is produced by nuclear ''fission'' of uranium and plutonium in nuclear power plants.
