Game Description Language
Game Description Language, or GDL, is a logic programming language designed by Michael Genesereth for general game playing, as part of the General Game Playing Project at Stanford University. GDL describes the state of a game as a series of facts, and the game mechanics as logical rules. GDL is hereby one of alternative representations for game theoretic problems. Purpose of GDL Quoted in an article in New Scientist, Genesereth pointed out that although Deep Blue is able to play chess at a grandmaster level, it is incapable of playing checkers at all because it is a specialized game player. Both chess and checkers can be described in GDL. This enables general game players to be built that can play both of these games and any other game that can be described using GDL. Specification Syntax GDL is a variant of Datalog, and the syntax is largely the same. It is usually given in prefix notation. Variables begin with "?". Keywords The following is the list of keywords in GD ...

Graduated Driver Licensing
Graduated driver licensing systems (GDLS) are designed to provide new drivers of motor vehicles with driving experience and skills gradually over time in low-risk environments. There are typically three steps or stages through which new drivers pass. They begin by acquiring a learner's permit, progress to a restricted, probationary or provisional license, followed by receipt of a full driver's license. Graduated drivers' licensing generally restricts nighttime, expressway, and unsupervised driving during initial stages, but lifts these restrictions with time and further testing of the individual, eventually concluding with the individual attaining a full driver's license. Overview Acquiring a learner's permit typically requires a minimum age and passing vision and knowledge (written) tests. These tests usually assess the participant's knowledge of road signs and how to deal with hypothetical situations (e.g. junctions) while on the road. Parental or guardian permission may be requ ...

Graduate Diploma In Law
The Graduate Diploma in Law/Postgraduate Diploma in Law/Common Professional Examination (GDL/PGDL/CPE) is a postgraduate law course in England and Wales that is taken by non-law graduates (graduates who have a degree in a discipline that is not law or not a qualifying law degree for legal practice) wishing to become either a solicitor or barrister in England and Wales. The course allows non-law students to convert to law after university (exceptions exist for non-graduates depending on circumstances); it is commonly known as a "law conversion course". Regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority, the course is designed as an intense programme covering roughly the same content as a law degree LL.B (Hons) and the main goal is to allow people with a greater variety of educational backgrounds into the legal profession. Most GDL/PGDL courses award a diploma and are thus often titled Common Professional Examination (CPE). The GDL/PGDL is one (full-time) or two (part-time) years l ...

Goyim Defense League
The Goyim Defense League, also known as the GDL, is an antisemitic hate group and conspiracy theorist network of public personalities active across a number of social media websites, primarily YouTube, Facebook, Twitter and Gab. The GDL emerged in 2018 and is led by the Sonoma County–based Californian comedian actor Jon Minadeo ("Handsome Truth") and "Sway Guevara". Others previously associated with the network have included Patrick Little, an antisemitic candidate who ran for the United States Senate in California against Dianne Feinstein in 2018. The network's name recalls that of the Jewish Defense League (JDL) and the Jewish non-governmental organization Anti-Defamation League (ADL). Its "GDL" logo is a parody of the logo of the ADL. "Goyim" is a Hebrew word meaning "nation," and whilst in the Bible it refers both to Jews and non-Jews, it is colloquially used by Jews to refer to those who are not Jewish. The GDL operates an online video sharing platform called Go ...

Glucono Delta-lactone
Glucono-delta-lactone (GDL), also known as gluconolactone, is a food additive with the E-number E575 used as a sequestrant, an acidifier, or a curing, pickling, or leavening agent. It is a lactone of D-gluconic acid. Pure GDL is a white odorless crystalline powder. GDL has been marketed for use in feta cheese. GDL is pH-neutral, but hydrolyses in water to gluconic acid which is acidic, adding a tangy taste to foods, though it has roughly a third of the sourness of citric acid. It is metabolized to 6-phospho-D-gluconate; one gram of GDL yields roughly the same amount of metabolic energy as one gram of sugar. Upon addition to water, GDL is partially hydrolysed to gluconic acid, with the balance between the lactone form and the acid form established as a chemical equilibrium. The rate of hydrolysis of GDL is increased by heat and high pH. The yeast ''Saccharomyces bulderi'' can be used to ferment gluconolactone to ethanol and carbon dioxide. The pH value greatly affects c ...

Gewerkschaft Deutscher Lokomotivführer
The ''Gewerkschaft Deutscher Lokomotivführer'' (GDL, engl.: ''German Train Drivers' Union'') is a German trade union that represents workers in train companies. It has a membership of 34,000. 2007 strike In August 2007 the GDL planned to strike after talks failed with Deutsche Bahn, the main German railway operator, over a range of demands from the union. A key disagreement was GDL's wish to represent its members in collective bargaining processes, independently of other unions representing staff in that job category. On 8 August 2007, the labour court in Nuremberg Nuremberg ( ; german: link=no, Nürnberg ; in the local East Franconian dialect: ''Nämberch'' ) is the second-largest city of the German state of Bavaria after its capital Munich, and its 518,370 (2019) inhabitants make it the 14th-largest ... declared that a strike of affected long-distance and goods services would be illegal if carried out before 30 September, claiming it would affect the national eco ...

Gas Dynamic Laser
A gas dynamic laser (GDL) is a laser based on differences in relaxation velocities of molecular vibrational states. The lasing medium gas has such properties that an energetically lower vibrational state relaxes faster than a higher vibrational state, and so a population inversion is achieved in a particular time. It was invented by Edward Gerry and Arthur Kantrowitz at Avco Everett Research Laboratory in 1966."History of Gas Lasers, Part 1—Continuous Wave Gas Lasers"
''Optics & Photonics News''. Retrieved 4 June 2013 Pure gas dynamic lasers usually use a combustion chamber, supersonic expansion nozzle, and

Generalized Distributive Law
The generalized distributive law (GDL) is a generalization of the distributive property which gives rise to a general message passing algorithm. It is a synthesis of the work of many authors in the information theory, digital communications, signal processing, statistics, and artificial intelligence communities. The law and algorithm were introduced in a semi-tutorial by Srinivas M. Aji and Robert J. McEliece with the same title. Introduction ''"The distributive law in mathematics is the law relating the operations of multiplication and addition, stated symbolically, a*(b + c) = a*b + a*c; that is, the monomial factor a is distributed, or separately applied, to each term of the binomial factor b + c , resulting in the product a*b + a*c "'' - Britannica As it can be observed from the definition, application of distributive law to an arithmetic expression reduces the number of operations in it. In the previous example the total number of operations reduced from three (two mult ...

Gas Dynamics Laboratory
Gas Dynamics Laboratory (GDL) (russian: Газодинамическая лаборатория) was the first Soviet research and development laboratory to focus on rocket technology. Its activities were initially devoted to the development of solid propellant rockets, which became the prototypes of missiles in the Katyusha rocket launcher, as well as liquid propellant rockets, which became the prototypes of Soviet rockets and spacecraft. At the end of 1933 it became part of the Reactive Scientific Research Institute (RNII). A number of craters on the far side of the Moon are named after GDL employees.
