Gérard Rousset (rugby Union)
Gérard Rousset (born 21 January 1953) is a French former international rugby union player. Born in Bourg-lès-Valence, Rousset was a back row forward mainly associated with Valence Sportif, but gained his France call up during a short stint with AS Béziers. He debuted for France against the Springboks at Bloemfontein in 1975 and the following year was capped a second time on a tour of the United States, playing an international match in Chicago. Rousset operates the Victor Hugo café in Valence. Bourg-lès-Valence (; ) is a commune in the Drôme department in southeastern France. It is a suburb of Valence. The archaeologist and Hellenist Fernand Courby (1878–1932) was born in Bourg-lès-Valence. In 2014–2019, Bourg-lès-Valence was twinned with the town of Shusha (Shushi) of the de facto independent Nagorno-Karabakh Republic, but de jure part of Azerbaijan. Valence Sportif was a French rugby union club based in Valence, Drôme. The team last competed in Fédérale 2, the fourth division of French rugby. Valence were established in 1905, and played in white and red.
