Artistic gymnastics was contested at the 2019 Summer Universiade from July 3 to 7, and rhythmic gymnastics was contested from July 11 to 13. Both events were held at the PalaVesuvio in Naples, Italy. Gymnastics is a type of sport that includes physical exercises requiring balance, strength, flexibility, agility, coordination, dedication and endurance. The movements involved in gymnastics contribute to the development of the arms, legs, shoulders, back, chest, and abdominal muscle groups. Gymnastics evolved from exercises used by the ancient Greeks that included skills for mounting and dismounting a horse, and from circus performance skills. Kirill Prokopev
Kirill Sergeyevich Prokopev (russian: Кирилл Сергеевич Прокопьев; born 30 January 1994) is a Russian artistic gymnast. He is a two-time gold medalist at the Summer Universiade. He won the gold medal in the floor event at the 2017 Summer Universiade and he won the bronze medal in the men's team all-around event. This repeated itself at the 2019 Summer Universiade with gold in the floor event and bronze in the team event. Asuka Teramoto
is a Japanese gymnast. Teramoto was born in Komaki, Aichi. Her first major international senior competition was the 2011 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Tokyo, Japan. In the team all-around finals, she contributed on vaulting, uneven bars, and balance beam towards the Japanese team's 7th-place finish. She also qualified for the uneven bars final in 8th place. She ended up finishing in a tie for 5th with Gabrielle Douglas, finishing ahead of teammate Tsurumi Kōko. That event was won by Viktoria Komova of Russia. She competed for the national team at the 2012 Summer Olympics in the Women's artistic team all-around. is a Japanese female artistic gymnast. She is the 2015 Asian Artistic Gymnastics Championships, 2015 Asian team and all-around champion and uneven bars and floor exercise silver medalist. She is also the 2019 Summer Universiade champion with the team and silver medalist on the floor exercise. Hitomi Hatakeda
is a Japanese former artistic gymnast who competed at the 2020 Olympic Games. She is the 2019 Summer Universiade champion in the team, all-around, uneven bars, and balance beam. She is also the 2020 American Cup all-around bronze medalist. Early life Hatakeda Hitomi was born on 1 September 2000 in Machida, Tokyo. Her father, Yoshiaki Hatakeda, won a bronze medal at the 1992 Olympics in the team event. Her mother Yukiko is also a former gymnast and Hatakeda's personal coach. Ahmet Önder (born 11 July 1996) is a Turkish artistic gymnast. He represented Turkey at the 2020 Olympic Games. He is the 2019 World silver medalist on the parallel bars. Early life Önder was born in Ödemiş, Turkey in 1996. He was inspired to try gymnastics after watching the 2004 Olympic Games on television.
