The O2 Arena, commonly known as the O2 (stylised as The O2 arena), is a multi-purpose indoor arena in the centre of the O2 entertainment complex on the Greenwich Peninsula in southeast London. Kat Driscoll
Katherine "Kat" Driscoll (born 13 March 1986) is a British trampoline gymnast, and has been ranked as world number one. She became a full-time athlete in 2010, and has since won team and synchronised medals at the World and European Championships. She was chosen for the British team for the 2012 Summer Olympics after earning Great Britain a spot in the Women's Trampolining following her performance at the 2011 Trampoline World Championships. Career Driscoll was born in Chatham, Kent, on 13 March 1986. She took up the sport of trampolining at the age of seven after taking lessons during her school holidays. Driscoll attended Rochester Grammar School for Girls. Whilst a member of Jumpers Trampoline Club in Gillingham (Kent) she first took part on the international circuit when she competed in the World Age Games in 1998. Trampoline Gymnastics At The Summer Olympics
Gymnastics events have been contested at every Summer Olympic Games since the birth of the modern Olympic movement at the 1896 Summer Olympics in Athens. For 32 years, only men were allowed to compete. Beginning at the 1928 Summer Olympics in Amsterdam, women were allowed to compete in artistic gymnastics events as well. Rhythmic gymnastics events were introduced at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, and trampoline events were added at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney. Gymnastics At The 2012 Summer Olympics
Three gymnastics disciplines were contested at the 2012 Olympic Games in London: artistic gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics and trampolining. The trampoline events were held at the North Greenwich Arena (normally called The O2 Arena) from 3 to 4 August; the artistic events were also held at the North Greenwich Arena, from 28 July to 7 August. The rhythmic gymnastics events took place at Wembley Arena from 9 to 12 August. A total of 54 medals were awarded across the three disciplines. The most successful nation was China, winning five gold medals and 12 in total. Brazil and South Korea won their first gold medal in the discipline in the history of the Summer Olympic Games. Anna Dogonadze ( ka, ანა დოღონაძე; born February 15, 1973) is a German trampoline gymnast of Georgian origin who won a gold medal in the event of trampolining at the 2004 Summer Olympics. She was born on 15 February 1973 in Mtskheta, Georgian SSR, (present day Georgia). Prior to Georgian independence, she competed for the Soviet Union, and afterwards represented Georgia in international competition. Dogonadze became a German citizen after marrying a German national. They live in Bad Kreuznach, Germany, with their daughter Mariam. By profession, Dogonadze is a teacher. Dogonadze's career highlight was her Olympic win in 2004, which followed a disastrous final in the Sydney Olympics four years earlier.
