The men's parallel bars competition at the 2012 Summer Olympics was held at the North Greenwich Arena on 28 July and 7 August. It included 71 competitors from 33 nations. Feng Zhe of China won the gold medal, his nation's second consecutive victory in the parallel bars competition and third overall. Marcel Nguyen's silver was the first medal for a German gymnast in the event since 1988. Hamilton Sabot won the bronze, France's first parallel bars medal. The final included nine gymnasts instead of the standard eight after a tie for the last spot could not be resolved. Background This was the 23rd appearance of the parallel bars event at the Olympics. Only one of the eight finalists from 2008 returned: fourth-place finisher Fabian Hambüchen of Germany. Kōhei Uchimura
is a retired Japanese artistic gymnast. He is a seven-time Olympic medalist (all-around, team and floor exercise), winning three golds and four silvers, and a twenty-one-time World medalist (all-around, team, floor exercise, horizontal bar, and parallel bars). Three gymnastics disciplines were contested at the 2012 Olympic Games in London: artistic gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics and trampolining. The trampoline events were held at the North Greenwich Arena (normally called The O2 Arena) from 3 to 4 August; the artistic events were also held at the North Greenwich Arena, from 28 July to 7 August. The rhythmic gymnastics events took place at Wembley Arena from 9 to 12 August. A total of 54 medals were awarded across the three disciplines. Emin Nadirovich Garibov (russian: Эмин Надирович Гарибов; az, Emin Nadir oğlu Qəribov; born 8 September 1990 in Moscow) is a retired Russian artistic gymnast of Azerbaijani descent. He is the two-time (2013, 2012) European Horizontal Bar champion. Personal life Garibov is the younger son of Azerbaijani parents Nadir Garibov and Natavan Garibova. Daniel Corral Barrón (born 25 January 1990) is a Mexican gymnast. Career Corral participated at the 2010 Central American and Caribbean Games where he won the silver medal at the team competition and the bronze medal at the vault final. is a Japanese gymnast. He has won two Olympic medals in the men's artistic team all-around – silver in 2012 (London) and gold in 2016 (Rio de Janeiro). Kazuhito Tanaka
is a Japanese gymnast, Olympic silver and 3-time World medalist. Younger siblings, sister Rie Tanaka and brother Yusuke Tanaka, are both professional gymnasts. Qualifications for Men's artistic gymnastic competitions at the 2012 Summer Olympics were held at the North Greenwich Arena on July 28. The results of the qualification determined the qualifiers to the finals: 8 teams in the team final, 24 gymnasts in the all-around final, and 8 gymnasts in each of 6 apparatus finals.
