Gwyn Jones (footballer, Born 1935)
Gwynfor Jones (20 March 1935 – 13 November 2020) was a Welsh footballer, who played in the Football League for Wolverhampton Wanderers and Bristol Rovers. Career Jones began his playing career at Caernarfon Town, before joining English First Division high-flyers Wolverhampton Wanderers in 1955. He made his Wolves debut on 17 December 1955 in a 3–2 win over Black Country rivals West Bromwich Albion. He never found many opportunities for first team football at Molineux though, and managed just 21 appearances over seven years. He did however appear during Wolves' league championship-winning seasons of 1958 and 1959, and played in their 1959 Charity Shield victory. He joined Bristol Rovers in 1962, where he went on to play over 150 league games over his four years there. Llandwrog
Llandwrog (; Welsh language: meaning 'The church of Saint Twrog') is a village and community in Gwynedd, north-west Wales, most notable for the presence of the headquarters of Welsh record label Sain and the site of Caernarfon Airport. It has a population of 2,466, increasing to 2,539 at the 2011 Census. The community includes the villages of Groeslon, Carmel, Gwynedd, Y Fron, Dinas Dinlle, and Cilgwyn. 1959 FA Charity Shield
The 1959 FA Charity Shield was the 37th FA Charity Shield, an English football match between the winners of the previous season's First Division and FA Cup titles. This year's match was contested by league champions Wolverhampton Wanderers and FA Cup winners Nottingham Forest. The match was held at the start of the season for the first time, and was staged at Wolves' stadium, Molineux. The hosts won the game 3–1, giving them their only outright Shield win (in addition to three shared wins). The 1957–58 season was the 78th season of competitive football in England. The season ended with Wolverhampton Wanderers as First Division champions after scoring 103 goals and Bolton Wanderers as FA Cup winners. However, the season is remembered most for the Munich air disaster which occurred on 6 February 1958 and involved Manchester United on the return flight from a European Cup quarter-final win in Yugoslavia. 23 people died as a result of their injuries in the crash, including eight of the club's players. Molineux Stadium
Molineux Stadium ( ) in Wolverhampton, West Midlands, England, has been the home ground of Premier League club Wolverhampton Wanderers since 1889. The first stadium built for use by a Football League club, it was one of the first British grounds to have floodlights installed and hosted some of the earliest European club games in the 1950s. At the time of its multi-million pound renovation in the early 1990s, Molineux was one of the biggest and most modern stadia in England, though it has since been eclipsed by other ground developments. The stadium has hosted England internationals and, more recently, England under-21 internationals, as well as the first UEFA Cup Final in 1972. The Black Country derby is the local derby between English football teams West Bromwich Albion and Wolverhampton Wanderers, apart in the Black Country of the West Midlands.
