Guy Smith (ice Hockey, Born 1950)
Guy Smith (born January 2, 1950) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player. Early life Smith was born in Ottawa. He played minor ice hockey in Brantford, Ontario, and participated in the 1962 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament with the Six Nations of the Grand River youth team. Career Smith attended the University of New Hampshire, where he played four seasons of NCAA Division I ice hockey as a standout player with the New Hampshire Wildcats men's ice hockey team. ECAC Hockey
ECAC Hockey is one of the six conferences that compete in NCAA Division I ice hockey. The conference used to be affiliated with the Eastern College Athletic Conference, a consortium of over 300 colleges in the eastern United States. This relationship ended in 2004; however, the ECAC abbreviation was retained in the name of the hockey conference. ECAC Hockey is the only ice hockey conference with identical memberships in both its women's and men's divisions. Cornell has won the most ECAC men's hockey championships with 12, followed by Harvard at 11. History ECAC Hockey was founded in 1961 as a loose association of college hockey teams in the Northeast. Brantford ( 2021 population: 104,688) is a city in Ontario, Canada, founded on the Grand River in Southwestern Ontario. It is surrounded by Brant County, but is politically separate with a municipal government of its own that is fully independent of the county's municipal government. The 1972 ECAC Hockey Men's Ice Hockey Tournament was the 11th tournament in league history. It was played between March 7 and March 11, 1972. Quarterfinal games were played at home team campus sites, while the 'final four' games were played at the Boston Garden in Boston, Massachusetts. By reaching the championship game both, Boston University and Cornell received invitations to participate in the 1972 NCAA Division I Men's Ice Hockey Tournament. Format The tournament featured three rounds of play, all of which were single-elimination. The top eight teams, based on winning percentage, qualified to participate in the tournament.
