''Guerra de Titanes'' (2000) ("War of the Titans") was the fourth ''Guerra de Titanes'' professional wrestling show promoted by AAA. The show took place on December 8, 2000 in Madero, Mexico. The Main event featured an "Extreme" Steel Cage Match Tag Team match that featured Héctor Garza and Latin Lover taking on Heavy Metal and Perro Aguayo Jr. Production Background Starting in 1997 the Mexican professional wrestling, company AAA has held a major wrestling show late in the year, either November or December, called ''Guerra de Titanes'' ("War of the Titans"). Canek (wrestler)
Felipe Estrada (born June 19, 1952), known as El Canek or simply Canek, is a Mexican ''luchador enmascarado'' or masked professional wrestler best known for the 20 years he worked for the Universal Wrestling Association where he held the UWA World Heavyweight Championship a total of 15 times. As the major heavyweight working for the Universal Wrestling Association promotion, he became one of Lucha Libre's biggest attractions during the 1980s especially through his high-profile matches against non-Mexicans that sold out numerous shows and led to the UWA using the same formula of "Canek vs. the foreigner" for over a decade. Perro Aguayo Jr
Pedro Aguayo Ramírez (July 23, 1979 – March 21, 2015) was a Mexican ''luchador'' or professional wrestler and promoter who achieved fame in lucha libre as Perro Aguayo Jr. or El Hijo del Perro Aguayo ("The Son of Perro Aguayo"). He was the real-life son of lucha libre legend Perro Aguayo and not a storyline "Junior". Aguayo was best known as the leader of the ''Los Perros del Mal'' stable, which he started in Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) in mid-2004. The stable became a significant draw in Mexican professional wrestling, peaking during Aguayo's storyline rivalries with Místico and Héctor Garza. Espíritu (wrestler)
Espíritu / Dark Espíritu (Spanish for "Spirit") (born December 9, 1975) is a Mexican Luchador (professional wrestler) who's most well known for working as a heel (bad guy, referred to as Rudó in Spanish) character in Antonio Peña (AAA). Espíritu was original a member of the stable Los Vatos Locos, replacing Charly Manson when he left to form The Black Family in mid-2001. In November 2005 the Black Family asked Espíritu to join their group as they became part of La Secta Cibernética. Espíritu switched to the Black Family but parted amicably with the other Vatos Locos and at times teams with his old teammates Picudo, Nygma and Silver Cat. When La Secta became La Secta del Mesías Espíritu adopted the darker more "gothic" look that came with the shift in name. Nygma (born January 21, 1974) is a Mexican ''Luchador'', or professional wrestler best known from his appearances in the Mexican professional wrestling promotion Asistencia Asesoría y Administración (AAA) which he has worked for with only short breaks since 1995/1996. Nygma has been a member of ''Los Vatos Locos'', a Kiss look-alike group of wrestlers, with whom he held the Mexican National Atómicos Championship. Nygma was also a part of the Cibernético led group ''Los Bizarros''. Currently, he is part of a team called ''Los Exóticos'', a group of '' Exotico'', or transvestite wrestlers. In professional wrestling, a face (babyface) is a heroic, "good guy" or "fan favorite" wrestler, booked (scripted) by the promotion with the aim of being cheered by fans, and acts as a protagonist to the heels, who are the villainous antagonist or "bad guy" characters. Traditionally, they wrestle within the rules and avoid cheating (in contrast to the villains who use illegal moves and call in additional wrestlers to do their work for them) while behaving positively towards the referee and the audience. In professional wrestling, a heel (also known as a ''rudo'' in '' lucha libre'') is a wrestler who portrays a villain, "bad guy", or "rulebreaker", and acts as an antagonist to the faces, who are the heroic protagonist or "good guy" characters. Not everything a heel wrestler does must be villainous: heels need only to be booed or jeered by the audience to be effective characters, although most truly successful heels embrace other aspects of their devious personalities, such as cheating to win or using foreign objects. "The role of a heel is to get 'heat,' which means spurring the crowd to obstreperous hatred, and generally involves cheating and pretty much any other manner of socially unacceptable behavior that will get the job done." Lucha Libre
Lucha libre (, meaning "freestyle wrestling" or literally translated as "free fight") is the term used in Latin America for professional wrestling. Since its introduction to Mexico in the early 20th century, it has developed into a unique form of the genre, characterized by colorful masks, rapid sequences of holds and maneuvers, and "high-flying" maneuvers, some of which have been adopted in the United States, Japan, and elsewhere. The wearing of masks has developed special significance, and matches are sometimes contested in which the loser must permanently remove his mask, which is a wager with a high degree of weight attached.
