Grup De Folk
Grup de Folk was a Catalan folk music musical association formed in 1967 and disbanded in 1968. Formed as an alternative to Els Setze Jutges, it took its inspiration from the American folk music scene at the time and introduced its styles to local audiences to revive the musical tradition of Catalonia. Among its releases were a pair of albums in 1967 and 1968 that served as the basis for many other groups in the Catalan speaking areas. It was composed of 26 members, but many were only involved in some of its musical projects. Its many different styles and projects inside the association resulted in an early split-up that later led to the birth of progressive rock and psychedelic rock in Spain with bands such as Màquina!, in which their two co-founders, Jordi Batiste and Enric Herrera, were part of the backing band of Grup de Folk under the name of La Companyia, SL; and Música Dispersa, and singers such as Pau Riba and Jaume Sisa Jaume (, ) is a Catalan male given name. Catalan People
Catalans (Catalan, French and Occitan: ''catalans''; es, catalanes, Italian: ''catalani'', sc, cadelanos) are a Romance ethnic group native to Catalonia, who speak Catalan. The current official category of "Catalans" is that of the citizens of Catalonia, an autonomous community in Spain and the inhabitants of the Roussillon historical region in southern France, today the Pyrénées Orientales department, also called Northern Catalonia and ''Pays Catalan'' in French. Els Setze Jutges
Els Setze Jutges (, meaning "The Sixteen Judges") was a group of singers in the Catalan language founded in 1961 by Miquel Porter i Moix, Remei Margarit, and Josep Maria Espinàs. The name comes from a well known tongue-twister in the Catalan language: ("Sixteen judges of a court eat liver off a hangman"). The mission of the group was to promote the Nova Cançó movement and to normalize the use of Catalan in the world of modern music. They started out singing their own songs and Catalan versions of songs by French singers, especially Georges Brassens. The Catalan Countries ( ca, països catalans, , ) refers to those territories where the Catalan language is spoken. Pau Riba (7 August 1948 – 6 March 2022) was a Spanish author and Mallorquín versatile artist. Riba was born in Palma de Mallorca, Spain on 7 August 1948.
