Group For Social Dialogue
The ''Group for Social Dialogue'' ( ro, Grupul pentru Dialog Social, GDS) is a Romanian non-governmental organization whose stated mission is to protect and promote democracy, human rights and civil liberties. It was founded in January 1990 and issues the weekly magazine ''Revista 22''. On 31 December 1989, The Group for Social Dialogue – with only 15 members – organized a press conference at the InterContinental Bucharest in which participants announced the intentions of the group. Their constitution declaration specified the group’s intentions and the values shared by all the members. In January 1990, it was the host of the first official visit in Romania of philanthropist George Soros. The group pursues its goals mainly by engaging in dialogue with various society components, as well as the executive and legislative branches. Vitalie Ciobanu (born 4 May 1964 in Floreşti) is a journalist from the Republic of Moldova. He is the editor in chief of Contrafort He is a member of the Writers' Union of Romania, the Moldovan Writers' Union and the Group for Social Dialogue. Gabriel Liiceanu
Gabriel Liiceanu (; b. May 23, 1942, Râmnicu Vâlcea) is a Romanian philosopher. He graduated from the University of Bucharest's Faculty of Philosophy in 1965, and from Faculty of Classical Languages in 1973. He earned a doctorate in philosophy at the University of Bucharest in 1976. Between 1965 and 1975, Liiceanu was a researcher at the Institute of Philosophy, and between 1975 and 1989 at the Institute of Art History. He received a fellowship from the Humboldt Foundation between 1982 and 1984. He has been the manager of Humanitas publishing house since 1990 . Stere Gulea (born 2 August 1943) is a Romanian film director and screenwriter. He was born in Mihail Kogălniceanu commune, Constanța County, in an Aromanian family that had fled from the Kaliakra region of Southern Dobruja during the 1940 population exchange between Bulgaria and Romania. After attending high school Constanța, Gulea studied philology at the Pedagogical Institute of Constanța and then pursued his studies at the I.L. Caragiale Institute of Theatre and Film Arts (IATC) in Bucharest, graduating in 1970. Radu Filipescu's maternal uncle, Victor Groza, is the brother of Petru Groza, the first Communist Prime Minister of Romania. Mircea Diaconu (; born 24 December 1949) is a Romanian actor, writer, and politician. First appearing on stage in 1970, and on screen two years later, Diaconu pursued a lengthy career in both formats, working with a series of prominent directors. Doina Cornea (; 30 May 1929 – 3 May 2018) was a Romanian human rights activist and French language professor. She was a dissident during the communist rule of Nicolae Ceaușescu. She was co-founder of the Democratic Anti-totalitarian Forum of Romania (''Forumul Democrat Antitotalitar din România''), as the first attempt to unify the democratic opposition to the post-communist government.
