Basil Gribbin
Basil Gribbin was a co-ordinating magistrate in the Beenleigh Magistrates Court and a member of the Queensland Magistrates Association, which is the equivalent of a Magistrates Union. Gribbin served as a Magistrate from 9 January 1987 to 10 May 2008. Legal career Gribbin commenced his working life as a clerk at the Magistrates Court at Warwick in 1964. He later worked as a registrar in over nine court registries including Springsure, Herberton, Cairns, Beenleigh, Inala and Rockhampton. After being admitted as a legal practitioner in late 1984, he undertook a series of appointments as Acting Magistrate at Herberton, Cairns, Beenleigh, Inala and Rockhampton over a two-year period before being appointed as a Queensland Magistrate. Ciaran Gribbin
Ciaran Gribbin (born 1976) is a Northern Irish singer-songwriter, guitarist and producer who hails from Castledawson, Northern Ireland. Career Early career Gribbin began writing songs at the age of nine. He formed a small band with his two best friends, and for years they toured the pubs in Belfast, Northern Ireland where he was born. At 20 years of age, Gribbin studied music at the School of Music in Bangor, County Down, Northern Ireland. Upon leaving college, he formed the band, Leya, which lasted seven years. The band put out one album, titled ''Watch You Don't Take Off''. Leya toured with bands such as Snow Patrol, Scissor Sisters, Franz Ferdinand and Embrace. Deirdre Gribbin
Deirdre Gribbin (born 14 May 1967) is a composer from Northern Ireland. Career Gribbin was born in Belfast. She studied at Queen's University Belfast where, at the age of twenty, she began to compose. Further studies were in London (at the Guildhall School of Music with (Robert Saxton) and in Denmark (with Per Nørgård). Her first professional success came when her piano piece ''Per Speculum in Aenigmate'' won the Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival Composition Prize. Subsequent major works have included the piano quartet ''Jack B.'' (inspired by the work of the Irish painter Jack B. Yeats), the piano trio ''How to Make the Water Sound'', the opera ''Hey Persephone!'', the violin concerto ''Venus Blazing'', which was directed by Lou Stein with lighting by Jeff Ravitz, and ''The Binding of The Years,'' for piano and orchestra. John R. Gribbin (born 19 March 1946) is a British science writer, an astrophysicist, and a visiting fellow in astronomy at the University of Sussex. His writings include quantum physics, human evolution, climate change, global warming, the origins of the universe, and biographies of famous scientists. He also writes science fiction.
