Grenå Municipality
Until 1 January 2007, Grenaa municipality or Grenå municipality was a municipality (Danish, '' kommune'') in Aarhus County on the east coast of the Jutland peninsula in central Denmark. The municipality covered an area of 196 km², and had a total population of 18,641 (2005). Its last mayor was Gert Schou, a member of the Social Democrats (Socialdemokraterne) political party. The municipality's main city and the site of its municipal council was the town of Grenaa. The municipality was located on the east coast of the peninsula known as ''Djursland'', with the waters of the Kattegat to the east, defining the municipality's eastern border. Grenaa municipality ceased to exist due to ''Kommunalreformen'' ("The Municipality Reform" of 2007). It was combined with Nørre Djurs and Rougsø municipalities, along with the eastern part of Sønderhald municipality to form the new Norddjurs municipality. Djursland
Djursland () is a 44 km × 33 km hilly lowland peninsula in Denmark at the entrance to the Baltic Sea, between Denmark and Sweden in Northern Europe. Djursland protrudes into the Kattegat sea, as part of the larger peninsula of Jutland, which itself extends from the Central European continent. Djursland comprises the two municipalities of Norddjurs and Syddjurs. The only larger city on Djursland is Grenå, but both Randers and Aarhus are close-by. Agriculture and fishing has been the mainstay of the rural culture here for millennia. There are many prehistoric relics of the past on Djursland, reaching back to the earliest cultures of the Nordic Stone Age. Norddjurs Municipality
Norddjurs is a municipality (Danish, '' kommune'') in Region Midtjylland in Denmark. It covers an area of 723.15 km² and has a population of 37,839 (1 April 2014). On 1 January 2007 Norddjurs municipality was created as the result of ''Kommunalreformen'' ("The Municipal Reform" of 2007), consisting of the former municipalities of Grenå, Nørre Djurs and Rougsø, along with the eastern part of Sønderhald municipality. Nørre Djurs Municipality
Until 1 January 2007 Nørre Djurs municipality ("Northern Djursland") was a municipality (Danish, '' kommune'') in the former Aarhus County on the east coast of the Jutland peninsula in central Denmark. The municipality covered an area of 237 km², and had a total population of 7.663 (2005). Its last mayor was Jens Peter Jellesen, a member of the Venstre (Liberal Party) political party. The site of its municipal-council was the town of Glesborg. Other towns in the municipality were the beach towns of Bønnerup Strand, Fjellerup Strand, and Gjerrild Nordstrand, and the towns of Stokkebro and Voldby. Kattegat
The Kattegat (; sv, Kattegatt ) is a sea area bounded by the Jutlandic peninsula in the west, the Danish Straits islands of Denmark and the Baltic Sea to the south and the provinces of Bohuslän, Västergötland, Halland and Skåne in Sweden in the east. The Baltic Sea drains into the Kattegat through the Danish Straits. The sea area is a continuation of the Skagerrak and may be seen as a bay of the North Sea, but in traditional Scandinavian usage, this is not the case. The Kattegat is a rather shallow sea and can be very difficult and dangerous to navigate because of the many sandy and stony reefs and tricky currents, which often shift. The Social Democrats ( da, Socialdemokraterne, ) is a social democratic political party in Denmark.
